Amazing story here...

A 20 year old British sniper whacked six Taliban fighters at once, with one shot, from 930 yards. One of the bad guys was a suicide bomber, wearing an explosive vest...when the sniper shot him, the vest detonated, taking out his five terrorist buddies as well.

Kinda makes you feel warm and fuzzy all over, doesn't it? :)

Let's see six Taliban one shot..How many virgins does that account for? That young sharp shooter is using up virgins at a unsustainable rate. Bullet cost ???? vs. virgin cost, vs. explosive cost.......Yes sir that young man has cut down on terrorist activity, but better yet he has raised the cost to the terrorist, Their cost far out weigh the cost of the bullet...Now that is the proper cost analysis for the Crown..I say chap.."Well Done"

Cool.

Reminds me of famous elephant hunter John Taylor. In his book African Rifles and Cartridges he recounts killing two elephants with one shot with a 6.5 caliber Mannlicher. The one he shot was standing in front of another one and when he shot it it fell into the other one, knocking them both over a cliff.

Gotta preserve those expensive cartridges.:D

The strangest thing just happened: as I was reading this the story came on the t.v. news playing in the background.
That shot equates to quite a ballistic co-efficient.

Other than this thread I had not heard about this. Stories like this rarely seem to be covered by the major media here in the U.S. I think that the news folks themselves are uncomfortable with a story about killing that is told in positive terms, even when those killed are dangerous terrorists. Or maybe the public feels the same way. If this article were to be featured in a major American paper, or by one of the three major network news shows, and done with a "well done!" perspective, would many in the viewing audience be upset?

If you ever have the chance to watch old WWII newsreels, from D-Day forward, where allied advances and killing or capturing large number of German troops was trumpeted with pride and excitement, or read the headlines in some of the major papers for the same era, you might be struck with how different things now are. Even when a military operation is successful it is presented almost grimly, like a necessary evil but evil nonetheless.

I think all of this is a sign of the wussiness of the American public. We can praise our soldiers but don't focus too closely on what they actually do; we seem to have lost the ability to be proud, as a nation, of our warriors and can only celebrate them when they do something other than killing enemy soldiers, like rescuing a comrade, or helping some disabled child, etc.

Welcome to the new metrosexual world. God help us all.

That was very cruel and unfair... another reason why guns should be banned.

(Just anticipating the response from the "opposition".)

Don't you just love the whole concept...Sniper pulls the trigger and for four seconds the Jehadists is thinking about all the people he will kill. Not knowing that he is already dead.....Got to love a good ending...The other Taliban are thinking "I'm glad Omar is going to do that suicide stuff'" not knowing they are about to collect their virgins too.

Oh, I get it. Explosive vest on the first one.

I thought maybe them Talibans was all lined up in a row and Tommy just dead-centered the first 'un and the others fell down too.

I like it better the way it really happened, but wouldn't the other way have been a cool thing to see? Like dominoes, but with a happier ending.;)
