I have a British Victory, caliber 38 S&W, that dates to 1943. It has all the appropriate US property stamp, plus the British proof marks. There are no import marks, so I imagine it has been back in the USA for awhile.

It came with checkered diamond service stocks with the gold S&W medallions. No marks or numbers on the back side. All the pictures I have seen on the internet show smooth stocks. Is there any possibility that these could have been original to the gun?

The stock style you describe is about 20 years before the uncheckered walnut style of the wartime Victory Models. The good news - VM stocks are still easy to find and inexpensive, and you have a nice set of stocks to put on your 1910 decade K frame when you buy it. :)

I suspected that it wasn't correct. But it just looks so nice I think I'll keep them together.

Deep-dish gold medallion checkered grips are characteristic of the 1911-1920 period. Early BSR grips were checkered with silver medallions, and by early 1942, they were smooth wood without medallions. A nice pair of the gold medallion grips will be worth something as they are getting more difficult to find.
