Hello and as always, I appreciate your time.

I am looking at a BRNO 581 22lr. Local, $500, very clean, 98%, just a few handling marks but no major wear or corrosion, 2 mags.

Are there any big red flags with this model? I am a big BRNO/CZ fan, but I have never had a 22lr semi auto (of any brand). Is this reputed as a reliable durable gun?

I don't mid the price, it will be the cheapest BRNO I have ever purchased, if I do it. But there isn't much written about these on the WWW.

Thanks, Pete

Pete, a friend back in CT has a CZ 511, which I believe is very similar to the BRNO 581. He really likes the rifle. I shot it a couple times, and don't remember any issues. I remember they seemed well made - steel & wood. Cant say much more than that about the 581. BRNO / CZ have always struck me as well made firearms.

I have both, the CZ 511 is still NIB. I shoot the 581 and love the rifle. The only drawback is the lack of spare mags. They are what would you call unobtanium but I was lucky enough to find several a few years ago and bought them all. Even then they were about $35 dollars each. Rimfire Central has everything you ever want to know about these rifles.

Since your looking at one w/2 mags and in 98% I wouldn't hesitate. If you decide to get it please post asome pics.

For those wondering what these are, here are a few pics.
