Bronze 5904

My lgs has a bronze 5904 for sale. I haven't looked at it in person.
I just saw it last night on their website. Having just recently began purchasing Gen 3's, my knowledge is limited. Did Smith make a bronze version of the 5904 ? I am guessing that someone had this done. price is 325.00.

I am looking at it this morning. Any help is appreciated.

Someone had that done. Maybe they liked that color, or more likely the finish was worn or damaged.

Welcome to the forum.

The 5904 was done in basic black finish from the factory. I did see a bronze finish 5904 on Gunbroker last year. The seller said he had it Ceracoated.

I would guess the one you are looking at is as well. If you like the look, buy it, shoot it, love it. The 5904 is a great 9mm gun. Accurate, reliable and looks good doing all that. Good luck with your decision! Regards 18DAI

That was fast. I like the look from the pic. I don't care if it is modified. I purchased a 6906 from them a few months ago and really enjoy shooting it. It quickly became one of my favorites.

Another question, is there anything special to check out when purchasing 3rd gen's?

Thanks! I'd concur that it"s certainly a cerakote job or something like it. At $325 it should be a good buy if the mechanicals check out.

Somewhere on this forum, I've seen it opined that the little notch the hammer beats into the frame is a good indicator of round count. Right where it contacts the frame as it cycles back. I can't remember who posted it or when, but it makes a kind of sense.

Well, that answers a question I was about to post about whether or not you could Cerakote aluminum! I was debating doing it on one of mine in either black or stainless.

Back to the subject at hand though, if you like the color go for it! I have what is essentially the same firearm and it is outstanding. Accuracy and reliability is among the best in my ‘flock’.

I think you’ll enjoy your time at the range with it. Be sure to share how it went!
