All of these were made in 1943, all from CMP. I can only wonder at the stories they could tell.

The wood is replacement GI but the rest of the rifle is matching and correct for the date. I really lucked out with this one from CMP.

Smith Corona 03A3

Mossberg M44US
Continues to serve in peacetime. A fair number of Boy Scouts have gotten their rifle shooting merit badge with this rifle.

Not to slight our allies, a 43 dated Long Branch No4 Mk1*

This rifle is New Zealand marked and looks to have sat out the war in a rack there. It is in pristine condition.

With the rear sight on a sleeve ahead of the receiver, a rear-swept bolt handle, and a C-type stock, I'd call that middle rifle a Model 1903A1, even if it has a stamped '03A3 triggerguard. But it's a classic by whatever designation !

Dang, I'd uploaded a picture with a Springfield 03. Fixed now showing the Smith Corona 43 dated 03A3.

Have a 1911A1, M1 Garand and a Remington 1903A3 all made in 1943. Didn't plan it that way just happened and really didn't know when they were made until I started looking up the serial numbers. remember using the Mossbergs in 22rf at boot camp Great Lakes Naval Training Center 40 some odd years ago. Nice rifles and all should shoot very well. Frank
