Yet another Shield?

I am out of following the market for new mfg guns. I'm not waiting with baited breath for every new pistola on the on UTUBE trials. So is this a big deal, what's new about it?

S&W is basically doing what SIG did several years ago when they released the P365XL.

Many people only run the extended magazine on their Shield/Shield Plus anyway, so the shorter magazines were not a selling point for them.

Furthermore, S&W is finally adding the light rail that they should've added on the Shield Plus. Instead, they did the worst of both worlds by making the dust cover portion of the frame thicker, which meant that certain Shield 1.0/2.0 holsters didn't fit, without giving the utility of a rail that would allow one to use the better subcompact weapon lights.
