Brought a Model 10-6 Home

I've seen so many over the years, but have only very recently ventured into acquiring K frame 38's.
Following my long time interest in 357's I went to look at a Model 19. It was too much money for too little finish and function, but this M10 caught my eye.
Big azz Mustang grips (which I know nothing about) on it. Used so little it has only the beginning of a turn line. Not perfect, but still very nice. Wonderful action. Serial puts it at '73 or '74. Not real cheap. OTD for $420 and I am happy so far.
Will post better pics after cleaning her up.

I have had 4 different Model 10's over the years. None of them had any issues. Barrels ranging from 2" to 8.75" { PPC custom} The only 1 I have left at the time is 10-5, 2" R.B. Also have a 64-3. Bob

Exact same OTD price I paid for a 10-5 with original Magnas earlier this year for my brother-in-law's .38. Nice gun you have there!

Heavy barrel

I have to say M&Ps usually don't do anything for me but I really like the heavy barrel. It just gives it a better, meaner, more modern look, like a 13. I stumbled on a nickel 10-8 and have been a fan since.

And at 420 you can't go wrong, bro! LOL

Nice looking revolver. I picked up a Model 10-6 in 2017 for $210. It shipped 5/1968.





It is a good shooter (has to be with me shooting).

Mine are. Serial number puts it about 1978.
In the picture, it is sporting Football Targets but now the magnas are back on with a Tyler T-Grip.

My first S&W purchase back in early '90s. An ex-police turn in, a M10-6 heavy barrel. Really nice to hold and shoot. About 25 years ago my then 12 yr. old nephew shot it and couldn't miss with it. Now, after all those years and other revolvers, I have given that one to my nephew.

IMO, which is worth exactly how much you are paying for, the Model 10 & 64 with 4" barrel is a best buy. Banning semi-autos as more States are doing is not reducing the need for personal protection it is shifting the demand to revolvers and along with it higher prices. The fix sight K-frame revolver has the sight size of grip, length of trigger pull, weight and balance for many people to learn to shoot well.

I include the Ruger Speed and Service Six series also but they don't come close to matching the smooth trigger pull of a broke in K-Frame. Lord help us if Congress passes restrictions on semi-autos.

The K-frame Model 10 is such a classic, and your new acquisition is a thoroughbred which will give many years of great service.

That being said, you'd still have a helluva time trying to pry mine out of my paws.
