Dog229 Here,
I was wondering if anyone has used the Brownell srewdriver starter kit $98 in using them on smith revolvers. My kids want a nice B-day present to get me wanting to help them out!
Are they any better sets? I just work on my revolvers so only need them for that
Your opinions please birthday in two weeks.

dog229,
Thanks for your opinion and would you add the other set available with different sizes to make it a 20 pcs set or our you getting to many that i will not use or maybe the way to go is buying them separate which i can but which of the set do i really need to have for they are $12 each from Brownell.
Thanks,

dog229 Here,
I tp have the wheeler bit set but want a fixed handle screw driver that will feel more positive fit than the wheeler which has alot of play which has made me have some issues that i wish didn't happen.
I think the fixed screwdriver is the way to go.The Brownells has also a lifetime warranty but i don.t see any problem anyway.
Thanks!

dog,if you are going to spend $98.00 on a set of Magna Tips, you might as well pony up the extra $30-$40 for the 58 piece master set. My girlfriend bought me the 58 piece set many years ago for my birthday and I have made good use of it since. Recently I purchased the S&W specific kit to keep in the range bag as I was running out of room for the large set with all the other must have range bag goodies. The law enforcement handle that is available is an excellent addition to the kit as well. When I bought the Smith specific kit I opted for the L.E. magnetic hollow handle-love it.

dog,

If you're only working on S&W revolvers, all you really need is a Brownells Magna-tip handle with the S&W revolver screw tips in the handle & a box if you're gonna add more tips. Add the rebound slide spring bit and you're done. Buy more toys with money saved...

Wheeler makes the rebound spring tip:

Wheeler Engineering Screwdriver Bit S&W Rebound Slide Spring

The Brownell's are better quality than the Wheeler in general. Personally, I use a Wira German ratcheted tip driver with several sets of Magna Tips.

For years I've been looking for a good driver set and finally bought one from Brownells. I bought their OFFICIALLY LICENSED NRA MAGNA-TIP® SCREWDRIVER SET. It is a great kit with all the driver sizes I need to work on my firearms. It is also backed by their lifetime warranty.

I also have the magna-tip screwdriver set and they work well and are guaranteed. However, to disassemble/assemble the S&W rebound spring I only recommend the SmithMaster™ - trigger spring tool for S&W® Revolvers. Easiest and safest rebound spring tool made.

I went with the deluxe wheeler kit, with the rebound spring bit included. Sadly, I have never used the magna kit, so I cannot compare them.

Don't forget the set of S&W screwdriver bits:
