There are a couple of odd-ball pistols on my "someday" list that I've always said if I saw one at a good price I'd buy it. Such as a Browning BDM, Daewoo 51, 9mm Beretta 9000, and Manurhin PP.

I don't need these guns, but they seem unique and if priced right something I'd like to own and shoot.

Well, a BDM came up locally out here in Western Washington and it was priced right for me so I bought it.

Nice thin grips, good shape, 4 mags, etc.

Well, I took it to the range today. Quite an experience.

THE

WORST

TRIGGER

EVER: ANY WHERE, ANY TIME, ANY PLACE!!

Okay, it was up against three tough guns....a Sig 229 (DA like butter, SA amazing); a Sig 250 (long but smooth DA and just a tad better than the 229) and my pretty regular carry a Sig 320.

But even if I'd a had a rubber band gun today, the BDM trigger would have been worse.

Took five shots with bullets flying all over the paper. Not dangerous, but really awful, unless you consider a 12" group at 5 yards marksmanship. So I dumped the mag and that was it for that gun for the day.

I never knew when it was going to go off. I thought the takeup had to be at least six inches and I'd pulled the trigger so far back it was behind the frame and grip; and then when it engages another two inches before it goes bang there's no break....it just sort of mushes off.

Next week its going to the smith and we'll see if he can work some magic. Otherwise....anyone want to buy a nice BDM? Only put a half mag through it.

(On the plus side, it feels great in the hand, sights are okay, and it's in good shape.)

Also on the plus side I shot the snot out of my targets today and really love all those Sigs. (And I'm stumped for what to get next: 938? but I don't need another carry pistol. 220? but it's gotta be in 9mm and I want the one with the heel release. 239? Too small, like the 938. Something in DAK...hmmmm, anyone have any thought on a Sig something in DAK?

Well, your list has a lot of apples and oranges in it.

The 938 is a small single action with a side release.

P220 9mm with heel release - this is going to be a collector's item. SIG has not made such a model for, what, at least three decades?

The P239 is not exactly a small gun. While smaller than the P220, it's not all that much smaller than the P225, which was a scaled down P220. In fact, the new P225A1 is actually a redesigned P239.

Since you seem to want a large 9mm, perhaps look at the P226 9mm DAK. It is full size, has your DAK feature, night sights, and the E2 ergonomic grips. I have a new P226 with these grips and it's amazing how nicely they fit my hand. It hardly feels thicker than a P220, yet fills your hand better. Alas, no heel release. Can't have everything. But SIG does make a .22 conversion slide, barrel and magazine for it.

The Browning Dual Mode (BDM) has a button on the left side of the slide that you can rotate from "P" (pistol) to "R" (revolver).

You obviously had it set on "R" which gives it the long heavy trigger pull of a stock double action revolver for every shot.

Turn the button to "P" and it is a conventional pistol, long heavy pull for first shot, and then the hammer stays cocked for a crisp (2 stage) single action pull for the remaining shots. Much like a Sig Sauer action.
RTFM.

I shot the BDM for a couple of years in IDPA/SSP, but switched to the M&P Pro 5" when it came out. I much prefer the ergonomics on the M&P, and the trigger pull is the same for all shots. I have never really made friends with the conventional pistol for competition, where the first shot trigger pull is different from the rest.

P.S. I still have the BDM, which is very reliable and accurate, if not to my taste for competition.

Gotta clean out the safe soon. Anybody know what a P220 9mm with the Euro heel clip is worth these days? I have one somewhere, LNIB (got it new about 25 years ago, fired a magazine, and put it back in the wrappings).

I dunno, but sounds like you and Redcoat3340 need to work something out!

That sounds like the trigger on all the guns I try to shoot in my dreams when the bad guys are coming toward me.

If you got deep pockets....You can't beat the P210.

I owned one 30 years ago and foolishly traded it off on
something i just had to have at the moment.

The P210 is like butter. And the most accurate 9mm
i've ever shot.

Would love a 210 and I've got very deep pockets....very deep, empty pockets.

I've been drooling over 210s for years and every year that goes by I can afford one less and less.

I've got butter taste but a margarine pocketbook.

BDA 9 or Sig P220-9mm.. the first in my opinion worth more..basically the same gun, BDA being some of the first Sigs sold in the US..

My '77 BDA
