Browning Hi Power Grips

I've collected a bunch over the years for my 2 HP's

Spegel wood and a set of his delrin grips which were an overrun from the FBI HRT grips he made in the 80s to go with their Novak HPs.

Hogue, factory and a few more.......

Spegel are my favorite but the Hogue's are readily available..... smooth or checkered.....

Uncle Mike's has a Spegel copy made of rubber. Ugly but cheap and they feel good. Let's you see if you like how Spegels feel and if so order some nice wood ones. That was my thought process but I liked the rubber grips enough that I never ordered real Spegels.

Never handled any Houge grips for a HP but I've always had good luck w their revolver grips.

I have a set of the Uncle Mikes on my late '40s HP that I use as a .22 conversion host. They are quite nice but hard to find these days.

Those are very nice grips. I have a pair or two. A few years ago Buds had a bunch of old new stock of those grips!

Anybody got some pics of VZ on their guns.

I am child of the 80's, so I am partial to the two-tone look of chromed frame and black slide. Trying to decide if I want black grips from VZ or some dark, checkered wood grips like the Herretts or Hogues.

The secret to getting Spegels is to get on the list. You will forget you were on it but one day you will get a call and you will get to choose from what he has produced. You purchase a set and send him a check. You then tell him to put you back on the list. Rinse and repeat...

The only other option is to buy in the secondary market or get cozy with one of the custom smiths that can order directly or have a hidden cache of his grips for their jobs.

I've used Spegel, Hogue, Nill, Navidrex, etc. But FWIW, the Hogues are thin, available in a variety of fancy hardwoods and synthetic materials. And the Hogues are easily available. No international ordering, waiting lists, etc;)

Another vote for Hogue wooden grips. They fit well and are reasonably priced. I've got them on both my BHP's.

Do like my Walnut Hogues. And if any of you have any leftover Pachs for a BHP, try taking that composition 'checkered' panel that is supplied for the backstrap and put that in place before fastening on the Hogues.
I really like how that worked out on mine.

Not a BHP but, here is a photo of my CZ wearing VZ's!

I have VZ grips on three of my 1911's and they fit perfectly.

You may want to consider Aluma Grips as shown on the blued BHP. They fit very nicely and feel really good.
