Trying to pick out a new .22 auto for a family member, this will be his first pistol. I'd like your opinion on the Browning Buckmark line. They have a lot of different models to choose from. My questions are: hows the trigger? hows the accuracy? is it easy to break down for cleaning? I don't want to recommend something which may be a poor choice. Your thoughts.....

I owned a Nomad w/ a 6inch bbl. when I was younger. It was a constant companion when I was riding fences in the river bottom and later in what ever vehicle I had access to. I don't ever recall a FTF, fantastic trigger, very accurate...paper plates and nutrias at 100 yds. or less almost always died...
That pistol taught a very young shooter many lessons on the finer points of marksmanship...sight picture, trigger control, kentucky windage, etc.- many thousands of rounds passed through it, it was stolen in a burglary just before my first child was born.
Never fired a Buckmark, but if it's anything close to a Nomad-" twill serve".....

I had one called a Challenger, I think. It was fancier than the Nomad, with nice walnut grips and a pretty fair blue finish. I think it had a gold trigger.
It jammed a lot, and I sold it. But that was in the 1960's, and if they still make it, it may do better.
I use a stainless Ruger MK II, and suggest that. I also liked several examples of the old Colt Woodsman Match Target.
The Browning didn't really fit my hand too well. But hands vary.

I'll second the ruger mark II or III.Very accurate even though they have a lousy trigger.
Another vote for the Ruger Mark II/III. I am a comparatively inexperienced shooter. My Mark III is a plain jane model, tapered barrel, fixed sights. I shoot it better than anything else I own. After 1500 rounds since I last cleaned it, I probably ought to do so again.
Under $300 brand new. I have not tried the Brownings, and they might suit you better, but the Rugers are hard to beat for fun per dollar.

I've owned several 22 pistols over the years..........twenty years ago I bought a Buckmark, and eventually sold all the others. It remains my only 22 pistol, and I taught all my kids (and quite a few other people) to shoot with it. The trigger is excellent, the accuracy is as good as guns costing twice as much, and takedown and cleaning is a snap, especially compared to the Ruger, which can be a beast to tear down and reassemble.

I have a Ruger Mark II that I would not trade. Browning has some nice guns, but it is when you need service that things can get tedious. My experience with Browning service is so negative, That it would preclude my purchse of anything that I had to send to them. Flapjack.

I have one of the Buckmarks as pictured,Love it and highly recommend it.As stated easy to clean, accurate and a smooth trigger.
I have a Ruger as well and I like the Buckmark better !
The Ruger is a bugger to take down and clean.
