I'm on the prowl again for something new and different. I'm torn between another S&W revolver or a auto ordnance 1927a1 in 45acp. The tommy gun has me hooked so far its "winning" as charlie sheen would say. This would be my very first gun that serves no purpose but a toy to plink with. I can't hunt with it. Yet i find it an interesting piece of metal with a lot of american history behind it plus it looks like a hoot to shoot too. Do you own one??

No, but I've been seeing more of them latley, I really am starting to want one, I say go for it, for having no purpose, that would be the one I would pick. Then you will need a oldcar with suicide doors to hang off of, lol.

Used to own one of the Commando models made before Kahr/AO took them over. Sorry...don't have anything good to say about it. Unreliable from day one. Couldn't get through a mag without several FTF. Heavy and awkward to handle and shoot with the 16" barrel. Got rid of it...don't miss it.

I bought one for the same reasons you stated, just wanted a fun plinker.I got some 50 round drums and thirty round sticks and never looked back. Everyone that has tried it has loved it, reliable,accurate,looks cool, what's not to like? One of my twin sons has called dibs on it. Yes it's heavy,but that translates to no recoil.I can even see putting it to home defense use if needed, hope this helps.

Heavy and clumsy, the drum magazines were stinkers to mount in the gun. I had one and so did a friend; we both got rid of them.

I have a Pre-Kahr 1927A-1 and it has been reliable for me with the exception of one bad mag. It serves no purpose except making me happy. About as practical as my Catco MKII Sten or my semi BAR 1918A3. Every now and then I bring it to work to use as my patrol rifle. I just picked up a 50rd drum but haven't tried it yet. It is just about impossible to get out with out help but I am thinking about sending it in to get the bolt hold open mod done and maybe getting the Cutts pinned. If I had it to do over again I would.
