Buddy Night

So, I'm a fan of Buddy. Great guy, one of the best. I had to get the record out. Here's to you, Buddy! I don't do this for ANY old rock pioneer!

A couple years ago the Belmont Theater over in York, PA put on "The Buddy Holly Story." The young man playing Buddy Holly did a great job. I'm just so disappointed that I didn't find out about the auditions so I could have a chance to be in the show. I tried to get the theater company in Chambersburg, PA to do it but they didn't get around to doing it.

I think Not Fade Away was one of the Stones' first covers. Holly's music to me is like the Beatles as not many bad ones. And they did a heck of a cover of Words Of Love (one of the first songs I learned on the harmonica.) True Love Ways was our wedding dance song. So much music written/recorded in such a short time…Rave On!

Texas is next on my hit list. My oldest sister lives in Floresville. Her husband grew up over in Lubbock. Definitely a bucket list item. I had cousins in San Antonio, nice town back in the 70s.

Its hard to believe that it was 65 years ago that the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly happened. The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA is only 100 miles from me, Some of my older friends were there that night.
