Bud's Gun Shop

Over the years I have done a lot business with Buds and have noticed a downward spiral in the service and increase in prices in the last couple of years. I no longer deal with them.

Good help is getting harder to find and keep.
There may be some "New Management" issues, or something like that.

One of the things the pandemic has done is to significantly lower the quality of the workforce. A lot of good workers just said the heck with it and left. Businesses will be picking up the pieces for years.

Never jealous of a paid shill......I have my own gun range and skeet field. And lots of stuff to use on each.....I don't need to watch others use theirs.

I rarely see anything wrong with someone having sponsors that cover a lot of the costs. And the sponsors deserve the recognition.
Few people could afford to shoot and do videos of their efforts using only their own money.
I find Hickok 45 to be informative and entertaining. Most of what he says I already know, but I do learn something occasionally.

The only issue I had once with Buds was I ordered a Mossberg 930 and they sent my FFL a Remington 870. They sent it back and I cancelled the order. But I guess that's not much different than my order to Colman two weeks ago. I ordered a 100 quart cooler and received a folding stove?

Haha, I had a friend order a fancy Pelican cooler and they sent him *one* T-post. And it was bent...

They give him guns and ammo.......I can't stand him......Everything he shoots is excellent........Mentions Buds all the time........He's just a paid shill.

Do you know for a fact he a paid shill? He is an excellent shooter which makes him perfect to evaluate firearms. Doesn't mean that you or I can shoot that same gun as well. He also receives firearms from friends and subscribers to test. Paid?

He will nitpick on some of the cosmetics but I've never heard him say he hated a particular firearm and refused to shoot it. I find him to be an honest and entertaining person.

I'm not dismissing OP's difficulties with Bud's. For me, Bud's has been 100% good. Most businesses, either online or brick & mortar, have problems at one time or another. It's how they recover from those problems that shows their mettle.

As an example of this, CDNN was 100% good until one time when they fell all over themselves. I ordered three magazines. First shipment was an empty package. When contacted, they immediately said they'd reship. Very responsive. That shipment arrived with one magazine; the other two were missing. When contacted again, they replied they'd ship the remaining quantity. The customer service person acknowledged her mistake in the reshipment. Next shipment, I got the remaining two magazines.

So it took CDNN three tries to get it right. Not a big deal in the long run. They owned their problems and fixed them as quickly as practical. To see a company have a problem and observe how they fix it is often more informative than ongoing glitch-free performance.

Exactly how I feel about it. Will always give folks another chance when they own it and make it right.

Bud's has a very mixed bag of reviews. Either you love them or hate them.

Hickock gets most of his demo guns from them and without their sponsorship - Hickock's channel would be pretty boring. I have only dealt with Bud's once and that was enough for me!

I know a guy who had a "pet" rattle snake. It was a great snake until it bit him. I've never had a problem with Buds before this. This is not a one off mistake, several people are going to be affected by it. No one that I've heard from is satisfied with the customer service either.

Can't speak to the specific situation, but have used Bud's for firearms several times and was satisfied. For some places, the only way you are going to get what you want is internet.

Indeed. I've bought firearms from Bud's for years with complete satisfaction. Most were guns I would have never found within 250 miles.

I must be naive to think our "gun owners/suppliers shooting community" is all of the same mind, that we sorta look out for one another. Guess that's not really true when it comes to business and profits.

I've had the same experience as you, but with a twist.

I've had Bud's ship to my range as the local FFL. After a few online purchases were sent there, the owner and his purchasing manager approached me with the request that they be given the opportunity to supply any future new firearms purchase.

Surprisingly, even though I've asked them to price firearms I'm shopping for, outside of what the usually stock, they have been able to price competitively on final out-the-door cost.

We all are happy, and I can support local business.

I've never done business with Bud's Gun Shop but it's interesting to hear both cons and pros of doing business with such a high visible firearms dealer.

I have on occasion watched some of Hickock 45's videos. Sometimes, when I want to know about a specific gun, I search his channel on YouTube. I have actually seen him give critical reviews of a few specific firearms, most recently the new Colt Python that was locking up on him in his tryout.

I say this tongue in check, but Hickock 45 is a big Glock fan, specifically the Glock 19. That may be why some "anti plastic" folks don't care for him, but he gets a brownie point from me. :)
