Just seeing if anyone else out there has had any experience with the 180 grain Buffalo Bore .357 loads. I bought a box for when I'm out camping in bear/boar/mountain lion country. They are HOT but at 25yds I still had decent groups when I tested them out. Now I carry a moon clip of 7 of those bad boys for 4 legged predators, and moon clip of either Remington Golden Sabres or Hornady Critical Defense for two leggers.

If it were me I wouldn't carry 2 different ammo brands/weights. POA/POI will change with the two and if under stress if you load the Remington instead of the Buffalo Bore you might not get the results you are looking for.

I like the 180gr hard cast .357 Magnum ammo made by DoubleTap. It's a good product but costs a lot less than the Buffalo Bore stuff.
DT 20 rounds $19.95
DT 50 rounds $47.50
BB 20 rounds $27.94

Grizzly Ammo also makes a great 180gr .357 Magnum round with an outstanding bullet made by it's sister company, Cast Performance. They cost $24.95/20 rounds but they are a true hunting round.

This is the bullet they use:

When hiking in the Woods I carry my 3" Model 65 with Buffalo Bore 180 grain .357 Mag's. After chronographing them at 1302 fps from the M65's 3" barrel and shooting excellent groups, I feel that the stiff recoil is quite manageable and well worth the benefits it offers.

The price of the BB ammo is of little concern to me since it is basically carry ammo, other than a few rounds popped off once in a blue just to re-familiarize myself with it, the ammo gets carried more than shot. For target work, informal plinking and plate banging I simply use my own re-loads.

As for a .357 magnum as protection against a 4 legged animal I feel this BB round is about the best there is on the market right now. JMHO of course.....

I second Chief 38's comments. I carry the Buffalo Bore® or HSM® 180gr LFN rounds in my 686 when in the woods here in the Pacific Northwest. Both loads are exceptionally accurate in my Smith & Wesson®. Facing black bear, cougar, or human I am well protected.

ArchAngelCD's opine about not carrying different ammunition is VERY SOUND ADVICE. If you need to shoot you won't have time to be switching loads.
