I ran across this information today. I am putting it here as a warning that Buffalo Bore apparently does not recommend its use in the older U. S. top break revolvers chambered for .38 S&W.
------------------------------------------------
Buffalo Bore is introducing personal defense load for
the 38 S&W cartridge. In order to improve on this cartridge
the company first looked at bullet design. Loading a 125gr.
hard-cast semi-wadcutter lead bullet was the first step. Increasing speed by using modern, low flash, powders that
give extra velocity and can remain within the SAAMI pressure
limits of 13,000 CUP. The result is a cartridge pushing
250 fps faster than other commercial ammunition.
The manufacturer states this ammunition is safe to use in
any solid frame revolver that is in ordinary shooting condition.
The manufacturer also states that the top-break British
Enfield and Webley which feature heavy frames and robust
latches that resist deformation can safely use this ammunition.
The manufacturer states the following velocities are
from their tests along with the arms used: 1030 fps in a S&W
Regulation Police 6 inch and 874 fps in a S&W 2 inch.
