Buffalo bore heavy .38+p out of a 4 inch barrel?

It should be if you don't give it a steady diet. My only concern would be if the gun was an older, circa 1950's, model.

If an all steel modern K-frame (mid-'50s on up), you can shoot .38 +Ps all day long and be fine. It's the hotter, lighter .357s (125gr) that may or may not be an issue in a K-frame.

The BB 158 grain +P Heavy is my standard carry load in my 2" Chief's Special M60-7 and I have also fired a bunch of them from my 1970's era K Frame M15. No problems and I find the load extremely accurate, produces the velocities as advertised (rare these days) and I have had no problems with BB ammo what-so-ever. GREAT STUFF - but I would not over do it. Fire a few for familiarity and practice and you will be good to go for carry use.
