Hey guys I'm pretty new here and I just pre-ordered my 15-22 MOE a week ago and I'm very excited since they are hard to find nowadays. My question is a couple days ago my buddy let me have some .22lr bullets of his I know they are Winchester Super X but I'm not sure about the weight or any of the other stuff. If anyone could help me out and let me know if these will work in a 15-22 would be great. Thanks, Jordan.

do you have the box?my local gun store told me to make sure they had a velosity of at least 1250fps or the bolt might not cycle properly.a lot of guys using these rifles seem to prefer the CCI rounds like the minimags or stingers.i have fired these 2 kinds of CCI's without any issues.

I don't have the box :( He had them in ziploc bags and I am trying to find CCI ones at local shops or online but no luck yet.

First of all welcome to the forum. Secondly I must tell you that that is not just a bullet. It is a .22lr cartridge... The bullet is just the part made of lead. The cartridge includes the bullet plus a case, a propellant (powder) in most cases and a primer which in this case is formed into the rim of the case ( thus its a rim fire cartridge).

The bullet is likely a 40 gr hollow point and I would suspect it is a high velocity round since it is an HP. It certainly should work in your MP 15-22 since it meets the specs. That said my MP 15-22 prefers Federal HV over the Winchester and others like the CCI minimags. Give them a try and see how they work. If they give you problems you can pass them on to another shooter or use them in a bolt action that will shoot just about any .22 rimfire. At any rate I would buy a variety of small quantity of a number of different .22lr HV ammo. Try them all and find out which works best before you invest in large quantities of any ammo.

CCI blazer is the best quality/ price trade off ive encountered. Standard CCI or the AR tactical is great to shoot, cleaner but more expensive.

Also used winchester super x, shoots great but expensive.

Thanks Skunk for the info, and as soon as I can find CCIs in stock anywhere(if ever) I'm going to give them a try.

Right now the only thing I can find is Remington Viper which shoots fine in my pistols but I have not tried in the MP15-22

So far my rifle hasn't been to picky.

It's chewed threw Federal bulk, American Eagle, Win Super X, CCI Mini Mags, Federal Auto Mtch, CCI Blazers, and CCI AR bulk.

The only round it didn't seem to care for was the bulk Federal Golden bullets. I haven't been able to find any of the "new and improved" Federal Golden Bullet yet, so I can't comment on them.

I think you mean Remington, not Federal...

Found some CCI Mini-Mags to backorder. Now it's just a waiting game until they come in...

I've had no problems w/ my 15-22 cycling ammo around 1050 fps so far. Sounds like a number of people have decent luck w/ even slower rounds. YMMV of course but I wouldn't necessarily limit your choices of stuff to try out to over 1200fps. Just maybe don't buy a whole bunch of it (or of any ammo for that matter) until you've seen how your rifle likes it.

The slower stuff is generally more accurate for target shooting.

My personal favorites so far have been the CCI AR Tactical and standard velocity round nose and Aguila Super Extras, but most people can't be super picky right now.

That's not quite correct. Anything over 1,000 fps will cycle a semi-auto 99 percent of the time. Besides, standard velocity (1,040 - 1,080) is more accurate than the high velocity stuff.
