Haven't been burning up the grill like I'd really like to. This weather has been beautiful this week....temp wise and at times when the rain was gone.

Felt the overwhelming urge this past week for a burger.

I've been keeping red meat to a once a week treat and I've been overdue for a few days.

My wife's schedule and mine just didn't work out for a trip to Five Guys, Chilis or Applebees....local spots with acceptable burgers.

Had to take matters into my own hands.

The plan was set after playing phone tag and I rolled up into Publix for some grub. Publix has become quite the hang out for young beauties and some not so young but still quite attractive.

Shopping was done.

I don't know about you folks, but I can't go by the magazine rack without a look through the latest....always seem to grab something....sucker born every minute.

Had to replenish the supply of hot sauce and picked up a new one to me (the TP Chipoltle).

Mixed a little of the TP Garlic in with the meat as I made large burgers...then coated with a light dusting of Butt Rub (not light enough, I later discovered...stuff blackens too quickly for outside application....shoulda mixed it into the meat).

My last bit of Don's over the burgers....again, this and the Butt Rub shoulda been mixed in, not poured on top, but I had a mystery to solve...more on that in minute.

Cracked open a couple of Mich Ultras and fired up the coals on old Trusty Rusty. This old champ is on it's final season. I'm caving in after this summer and getting another grill.

Going back and forth to the grill I noticed something that was odd. My grill tools kept winding up on the deck. This happened twice. I figured I had put the handle too close to the edge and the Mich Ultras had me clumsy...whatever.

My bride arrived home just about the time I discovered the source of the mysterious falling grill tools.

The mystery of the falling utensils was finally explained:

The oldest dog was in the house....the youngest was up to no good outside, as I soon found out.

Burgers turned out purty good...sharp cheddar, bacon, onions 'n shrooms with a side of maters 'n mayo. Not too healthy, but my red meat quota for the week was met and it was sort of breakfast, lunch and dinner all at one time. No bread & bbq sauce cut out the sugar 'n starch at least. Weeks worth of cholesterol but I can feel good about that small victory. :)

:) Next time you all go out for burgers try the "Chop House" resturant if you have one in your area. IMO they are the best in my town. Don

I don't know about your burgers,I like mine a little simpler.

I do know that,Your girl is adorable.

Just a compliment from a happily married man.

Those burgers sound and look tasty. Good on ya for doing them up yourself, and leaving out the bread.

They were pretty good. January of this year found me wearing this belt at the very end, if I could wear it at all. Simply ridiculous. Anyway, I made some serious diet changes and added more excercise. This is where I wore the belt last month.

I have had to add two additional holes to the belt since and it's now loose again....time for more holes. When I'm done, this belt is gonna be a cool trophy to keep.:D

We do have one but I just can never make it past their ribs and steaks to attempt a burger.....but I'll make a point to try. I always buy a bottle of their rub when we go there.

Thank you, sir. She's in here early 40's and really spends some time on fitness.

I know... there was something about burgers but for some reason I lost my train of thought...

I tend to do that at times, too. I took her to the range recently for some more shooting of her 9mm & .380 semis. She did good but was distracting to me and I suppose some of the other guys there.

She's a Miami Heat fan and was rocking the "jersey" I bought her for game days.

I agree. I was not a happy camper with their performance Sunday. First half of the first quarter looked great.....but it slid off after that.

Dang if Dirk didn't go all out last night.....good grief. We could be seeing him vs Derrick Rose in the Championshiop Series.......

The sportswriters will cry for months, though, if Lebron and Durant can't duel it out.

This thread is getting more delicious the longer it gets... We recently got the Five Guys chain up here in NJ and it's fast and fresh. I'd prefer my own (as you likely do), however Five Guys is a place I will visit if I must. Also, congratulations on your beautiful burger partner, you must really be a good catch yourself... Go Heat!

I call foul on a major condiment that you used.

The photo on the back of the bottle says it all...

"TEXAS PETE" Hot Sauce.... made in Winston Salem, NC.

What's up with that?

Get a rope! :D

Most importantly: Your wife is beautiful and for some reason I'm mad at you because of it:D

Burgers? I like burgers this way:

Mix in some finely slivered onions

Mix in some garlic salt

Mix in some coarse ground pepper

Save the butt rub for your butt, it shouldn't be used in food:D

Mix in a little softened butter

Mix in a teaspoon or so of A1 steak sauce or hot sauce ,etc. per burger

Let burger sit for about 10 minutes, covered at room temp.

Grill and eat!

Personally, a burger without a bun is like a hand ejector without grips on it. Now, if I get to look at that woman while I eat, I would probably eat kibbles and bits if she put it in front of me and not mind a bit.

Go Heat!!!!

Now that was more like it.:D:D:D:D:D

Sixpack,

You are indeed a lucky man.

John

Thank you. She's been a great mother and wife. She's allowed me a lot of lattitude with my hobbies.....mainly golf and some occasional hunting.

Lately she's become my number two workout partner as I try to reach my fitness goals. My number one partner is my little German friend who is always at my side and loves the frequent walks we go on in the late evening and early mornings.

The "mystery" part of the original thread was this pooch getting my grill utensils off the grill while I was cooking. I still can't find the wire brush thing.

Yup. I was born and raised in Eastern NC. The regular Texas Pete was a basic table condiment in my house growing up and now it's been bumped by these:

Texas Pete has always been a "born in the Carolinas" product as far as I know. They just chose to add the "Texas" to the name because it brought forth visions of rugged TexMex cooking, I suppose.

Making sure my son gets to Hallowed Ground every so often:

I concur with the chopped onions. My son asked me to cook these like that yesterday. Turned out very, very tasty.

Son said he was in the mood for a burger today while we were out.

Gave him the choice of a resturant or homemade. He opted towards the backyard option.

Stopped at Home Depot and bought 80lbs of Kingsford...not sure how much longer my old trusty rusty grill is gonna make it.

Assembled some of the usual suspects:

A nice tomato, sliced with salt n' pepper, bacon slices and Duke's finished off my meal.

I'm stuffed like crazy after that.

She doesn't cook but she does take me out fairly often. This was a recent afternoon when a buddy and I had been working on my boat trailer and having some cold ones....thirsty work. She arrived home and sent him on his way and me to the shower and then drove me to a nearby favorite spot for happy hour margaritas (hers) and 23oz pilsners (me) and shots of Patron (both)......and then an early dinner.

On the way in I was goofing with my cellphone camera.

Another recent date night out....again, the goof with the cellphone camera:

Awesome.

We went to the game last year when Lebron brought his talents to Atl....the night before his birthday. He only scored 14pts but had some dominent play on the defensive end.....the next night they returned to Cleveland to host the Hawks and he scored 42pts. Man, I wished that had been in the game we were at........

Looks like it with be Lebron going up against Dirk. Hopefully they'll return to Chicago tonight and take care of business nicely.

I'm expecting severe resistance from the Bulls, though. This series could turn out to be a prolonged battle if Chicago bones up these next two games. That gives the aging Mavericks some additional time to heal up and work on strategy.

Dangerous scenerio!!!!!!!
