Hello all. I 'm shooting bullseye matches with a S&W Model 19 . I'm currently using a Ultra dot and thinking of going to a burris Fastfire dot. Has anyone tried a burris fast dot for bullseye shooting?

Hi Bernie,
Everyone is different but for me I find the Fastfire a little difficult to adjust and the auto adjusting brightness is another thing I dont care for.
I prefer a tube type red dot sight for Bullseye.
I have been using a Konus Atomic and like it a lot. I like the Millet SP-1 as it is small and light too.
The Fastfire might suit you but I prefer to control the brightness of my dot for myself.
If your Ultra dot is a good one I would prefer it to a Fastfire.
Good luck
Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the feed back. I wasn't sure if the Fastfire dot was adjustable. I like my ultra dot, It's just about 10 yrs old and was thinking of updating it. The dot is getting a little dull even with a new battery. Burris has another red dot which is a tube as well and the dot is ajustable too. I might even try the Ultra dot Pan av.I have an old Leupold/Gilmore red dot which is great ,but it's not made anymore. The tube red dots seem to be the favorite for bullseye shooting.

Thanks again Mike for your input.

I'm very pleased with my Fastfire that I use for non-competitive bullseye. I sighted it initially in a few minutes and haven't had to touch it in the almost two years that I've had it.

Of course, everyone has their own preferences and needs.

Here it is mounted on my 41.

I tried one for bullseye shooting, to mount on my High Standard where I've been using a Tasco PDP3 red dot.

I found it not bright enough for indoor and the 3 minute dot too small and difficult to see. (My Tasco has a 3 minute dot that is adjustable brighter and larger). I took it out doors, and it was too bright. Shooting from under a shaded firing point, it was so bright it "starred" out so bad I could hardly see the target.

I was very disappointed, as the size and weight were just what I wanted, and even considered putting on my Gold Cup. I bought another Millet with the variable dot size and adjustable brightness and am well pleased, (not to mention the Millet was less than half the price of the Burris).

I have both the UltraDot and FastFire II.

I think the FastFire is perfect for "action" shooting games, but not the best for Bullseye.

Hi H Richard,
I have a Konus Atomic (3oz.) on a Pardini. It is small and light and needs no extra weight for rings. It has a four M.O.A. dot and the brightness is adjustable for all conditions.
It fits a Weaver base.
They have come up in price some since I bought mine (under $100.00) but if you like small and light with a big dot you might check them out.
I was at a point where extra points were hard to come by and I picked up my scores a little with the Konus.
On the down side the field of view is narrow but it suits me fine for Bullseye/precision shooting.
Good luck
Mike

Hi H Richard,
I can't help you as I have only had it on the Pardini.
I'd hate to tell you it is as tough as woodpecker lips and have one turn to crumbs on your centerfire.
This is my opinion. I have yet to see many cheap dots, and no good quality dots that cant take recoil. I did scramble a BSA once but it served on a .45 pingun for a couple of seasons with 8 grains of Unique and XXX grain bullet (lets just call it a heavy bullet so no one copies it). Before I toasted it I moved it to a spring air rifle where it eventualy came apart.
Back to the Konus. It is comparable to the Aimpoint Micro T-1 in size.
It is good quality and I have used it indoor and outside in bright sunlight. It adjust for brightness from 1-11and I run it around 7-8 outdoors
It weighs 3 oz. and needs no rings. I think there is an adapter for 3/8 rimfire but is standard for Weaver base with one crossbolt on the sight.
I would not hesitate to put it on slide mount 45. Plus it has the 4 MOA dot
Here is a picture. They say the camera adds ten pounds and it makes my dot sight look bigger than in person???? Go figure.

Good Luck
Mike
