Very likely to have been for .22 cal pistol. Front of medal appears to be inscribed "Silvergate II Finals"

Rear of medal appears to be inscribed;
1934
Class B
1st

Bottom reference to L.A. Louisiana?

The medals came with a custom boxed pair of guns - a K-22 Outdoorsman and a Colt Woodsman.

If you click on the images they will orient correctly.

The mark on the back is Dodge Inc(?) can't read the bracketed letters for sure. That was the maker of the medal. It is L.A. not La, the abbreviation for Louisiana. L.A. is Los Angeles, CA.

Two letter state postal abbreviations were not used until the 1960s, not in 1934.

I have never heard of those matches.

No but pretty neat, would love to see the boxed set of guns

Here's a photo. The box has a very hard to read label with a London, England street address but no maker marks that I can find. The Colt is a pre-Woodsman made in 1920. The K-22 Outdoorsman is probably from 1938. (A letter has been requested) I've had these for quite a while. Both guns show a lot of handling wear.
