Hey guys,

Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts as far as purchasing ammo online and having it delivered to your home. I'm not so sure that I'm okay with the idea of UPS handlers knowing what I have in my house when it comes to that sort of thing.

Am I being paranoid?

I've bought oodles of rifle and pistol ammunition online having it delivered to my home with nary a problem. For some particular loads, it's about the only way to obtain shootable quantities at affordable prices.

As to security, I'm not sure it's a issue. I had many many cases of ammo delivered to my house. I've also sold a lot of ammo shipping it all over the country. For shipping UPS routinely came by the house and picked up the ammo. I've not ever had a single problem either shipping it or receiving it.

Haha.. I was hoping I was just being paranoid since it's more expensive to buy from a brick & mortar.

Same here. Don't be paranoid. You think the UPS guy does'nt deliver
to many, many residences (ammo and gun parts)???
If it's cheaper that way "go for it".
I've had zero problems with ammo ordered online.

Yep. No worries. All the rounds I have purchased over the years have always been packed/shipped in cardboard boxes w/o any visible indication of the contents. Short of opening the box up, it is just another heavy UPS delivery.

Being very paranoid... Online ammo purchase is the way to go - comes right to the door at the best price without standing in line at gun shows and staking out the parking lot of the box stores watching for a delivery truck... like all the hoarders are doing now.

Have the shipper mark the package "Hold for pickup at UPS Depot", then get the tracking number when it ships and track it daily until it arrives. Then simply pick it up. Or simply have it delivered to your work if that's an option.

Thanks for the feedback, I figured I was being overly cautious but just wanted some other opinions. Especially since all the ammo I've ever received has always been identified on the box as such.

The UPS delivery guy usually drops the package, rings the door bell, and runs. He is a gun guy and recognizes the manufacturer or dealer with just the return address. He waits until I get to the door and we talk guns for a few minutes if it is ammo or gun parts.

I thought for a moment, LC, that we had the same UPS guy for delivery... but then I realized we are on opposite corners of the USA. He's promised to come shoot at my backyard range after one of the next ammo deliveries.

And to the OP, you can see this is a good way to purchase bulk ammo. No worries mon.

Nowadays being able to get it is the concern. Ammo to go only has a small supply of .38s no lead round nose , full metal jacket or frangible and very few jacketed soft nose or hollow points.

Usually UPS andFedEx require a signature verification for receipt of ammo. Has someone simply had a shipment of ammo left at his door with no signature required?

Also, the ammo pkg is supposed to have an ORD-M sticker plainly visible on the shipping box. It really can't be hidden from someone who knows.

The shipper may or may not require a signature. The carrier has nothing to do with it.

The ORM-D sticker does not necessarily mean ammunition. It simply mean "Other Regulated Materials - Domestic". That can be gases, flammable solids, poisons. etc.

Had a case of .22lr dropped off about two weeks ago w/o signature required along w/many others in the past.

It's usually up to the seller if they require a signature or not.

I don't think you're being paranoid. Just because those guys have a job doesn't mean they can be trusted. Who needs them talking to everyone they know about the *** on my route today who got this really heavy box of ammo I had to carry to his door.
