I went out the other day and picked up some pants and shorts. What was a top priority? How my G27 would fit them in my IWB holster. I recently tried to carry it with an old pair of shorts and the fit was a little tight. Its the fattest gun I carry IWB so if that fit I knew the others would fit fine.

I ended going up one size to a 33 with both pair of pants, but the shorts ran a little bigger and 32 fit just fine. I know the waists generally stretch, but I also wanted room to grow if need be (hopefully not though).

Does anyone else take makes sure their conceal carry guns fit while trying on pants? I can't be the only one.

My guns, holsters, belt and extra ammo all go with me.

I put my shoes up on the dressing room bench and put all the gear in them, take off my street clothes, try on the pants/clothing I'm thinking about buying, then repeat the process in reverse order. Do a head count on every piece of gear so as to forget nothing.

I just buy the factory reject 5/11 pants from sportsmans guide with the stretchy waist band, they seem to work pretty good and have all kinds of pockets and crap also.

Just tell your tailor that you carry a gun and let him do his job. This is the guy that measures your inseam, so it is already akin to an intimate relationship. The tailor, or the staff at a good haberdashery, is probably used to customers that carry guns and can be quite helpful.

Last time I checked, there wasn't a tailor at Walmart...

Actually, I order my pants online, comes with being almost 6'5" and 230 pounds, difficult to find a 38 inch waist with a 38 inch inseam... I normally wear 36's but went to 38 waist with a relaxed fit, they work well for when I carry IWB, if I decide to go with either the shoulder holster, the Don Hume slide or the pancake, I wear a pair of my regular 36 inch waist pants.

My BDU's from when I was in the military are a bit large on me in the waist, so they work well for IWB as well.

Bought two pairs of jeans yesterday they must have the right pockets for pocket carry or they wont work for me.

I pretty much wear the same size trousers all the time. I buy new ones, take them home and try them on (don't like store "fitting" rooms). If they fit w/IWB then OK. If not, they go back next time out.

I do find that the "same size" is not always the same size. Not only do waists differ but also inseams. I wear a size 29 inseam. Sometimes they drag the floor and other times break at the ankles. Seems sizes differ from lot to lot and sometimes from pair to pair.

Just bought three new suits last week (Jos. A Bank, buy-one-get-two-free sale) and made sure the store tailor knew I needed a bit of IWB pistol room. She indicated that they get that a lot. Ordinarily, however, I'd buy the same size jeans or other casual clothes, regardless of IwB carry, since my 1911-types and Brommeland holsters don't take up much room, and if it's a bit more snug, that just helps keep my pants up and my gun secure.
