Bye Bye Bullseye

If you're willing to pay around $43 a pound (plus shipping & hazmat) for it, Ammoseek.com lists several sources that have 8 lb. containers of Bullseye in stock and for sale.
The real question is, how badly do you want some?
Right now it is unavailable at Midway. OK.
Does that mean production has been completely discontinued? Nope.
Does that mean it will never be available anywhere, ever again? Nope.
What does it mean?
ONE supplier (Midway) is out of stock and can't say for sure when they will be getting some more.
It may be in short supply at the moment, but that doesn't mean it will never be available again.

Oscar Meyer says: “Baloney!”

If I understand the OP, the primary and singular information source of his claim is the Midway USA website??

According to Alliant Powders, Bullseye is a current product.

Alliant Powder - Handgun

Care to elaborate or provide further evidence of your rather bold claim?

According to old handloading friend since deceased, bullseye gained real foothold during the depression. Seems to make sense as it is very economical to use, and a lot of target shooting using 38 special. Only tried 1 lb of it starting out, but immediately switched to Hp-38 for the bulk/accuracy in firearms being used.

So from what I read here from the more experienced group of reloaders I can expect that Solo products will soon make a return to the market? I can only hope you experienced guys are right because I use Solo 1000 for a lot of stuff. Happy days are here again and I heard it here....

The difference is that Alliance is still in operation.
Solo has left the galaxy.

There was a powder in the 60's or 70's called Red Diamond. It was immediately discontinued and recalled because it "Bridged" in shotgun loading presses. A friend of mine helped with the recall, he had over 300 pounds left when he died 45 years after the recall. All you needed to do about the bridging was use a vibrator by the powder bottle. (He used one from a recliner.)

Powder companies have plenty of customers beside reloaders! People would rather complain than switch to another product, so in a time when they have trouble filling all their orders, they did away with the problem child!

I'm a Unique, Longshot, TightWad guy, I fear the same is coming!

I will never really understand powder companies. Trail Boss has been unavailable since, I think, around 2020. I emailed Hogdon in early 2023 and they said it will be available late 2023. Then available in mid 2024 per another email. Here we are in 2025, no Trail Boss. I went on Hogdon's site and they list it for 120 for five pounds, but unavailable. So, I assume, that was around 2020 pricing. The thing that makes me wonder is that all these powder companies introduce new powders, many of which are discontinued shortly thereafter, or are unavailable from the start. To me, it is like selling chocolate chip cookies using sweet morsles, and selling all they can make...then change and only make with semi-sweet morsels, and sales plummet, so they discontinue those also. I have never owned a business, but I always thought the best way to succeed is to make and sell a product that everyone wants. So if everyone seems to want Trail Boss, Bullseye, Unique, 5544(my favorite for 45-70), then I would think the smart business move is to manufacture those, not introduce new ones. All powders use the same basic ingredients, so if you can manufacture a new one, you can manufacture current ones.

I agree AA2 is a good replacement and as you say cleaner and not position sensitive. AA2 has become my go to powder for 38 special along with Accurate Nitro 100NF which is a little faster than Bullseye and cleaner and not position sensitive. And as you stated it’s a mild recoil powder. I wouldn’t have believed that powders could exhibit different recoil characteristics with comparable loads but there’s a noticeable difference.

I still have 2.5 LB of Bullseye and still use it in my 32 Long cartridges but when I run out I’ll start using AA2.

IMR 7625 works better than Bullseye in 32 Long but it really is a discontinued powder. I've tried both. AA2 looks like a good replacement.

I’m pretty sure Midwayusa website updates items to discontinued once they aren’t available for a certain time. It has nothing to do with manufacturer and.

No Alliant is not longer selling to us little people anymore
Some BS about a shortage of Nitro cellulose.

..........ALSO GONE.......2400---Unique--Reddot--Greendot---------All our old favorites.......VERY sad day

I assume you're being sarcastic.

From Alliant's site...

Handgun powders Alliant Powder - Handgun
Shotgun powders Alliant Powder - Shotshell

Somebody better tell their webmaster. They're still spending a ton on a website advertising their powders.
I guess somebody didn't get the memo.

Adds from mfgr...........Go try to buy some and report back.....With your empty sack.

I used to use Bullseye in everything. Because I was young and broke. Then I found out other powders worked cleaner and yielded better results - for a bit more money.

I started reloading 45 years ago. I started with Bullseye and still have maybe 2 3/4 pounds of it. Maybe I will use it someday but there are a lot of other powders that are cleaner and better for the job. Those are the ones I have a lot of.
