C&R Question

I'm sure this has been asked numerous times before, but I can't find anything when I search. I'm a fairly new C&R holder, I've had a few old guns shipped directly to me. What I want to know is if I can use my C&R to buy an eligible gun from a LGS, either in my state or out when I go to the store in person. A gun store not far from me, but out of my state has a S&W 41 that was made in 1960. He won't ship the gun, but I'd like to go in with a copy of my C&R and buy it. Can I do that?

Also, can I get an eligible gun from a place like Cabelas?

It is legal for you to do that transaction but it is at the discretion of the FFL. Some FFL's will not honor a C&R License.

Legally, yes you can do that. I purchased a few guns at gun shows on my C&R. However, its up to the dealer's discretion . Some will and some won't.

What CC said. I've done it and it is perfectly legal but it is up to the FFL. You might take SCSW with you to show the serial # falls in the 50 year old category. And showing cash in hand never hurts.

Have done it many times. It's just an FFL to FFL transfer, all they have to do is log it in their book, no 4473 or phone call required.
