Several months ago I wrote about AB 173 which passed into law in CA. This law gave access to the University of California (Davis) Firearms Prevention Research Center and pretty much anything else that could reasonably be called a "research institution" access to CA DOJ records of firearms purchasers, including their names, addresses and birth dates. Yesterday a court in San Diego struck it down. I have not yet been able to find out if that was a federal or state court. I also have no info right now on a stay that might now exist or might have previously existed. For some reason or other it isn't popping up on any of my search engines.
FURTHER. Injunction was issued by San Diego County Superior Court Judge Katherine Bacal. The CA Attorney General announced they intend to fight the ruling.
