My friend's dad offered me a Model 13-3 3", previously owned by an FBI guy. He asked for an offer. I daid 400.00. He insisted on 375.00. This gun is mint and now is my go everywhere gun. How was that price for a California gun? BTW. The action is unbelievable smooth.

In CA. at that price, you stole it !

It's one of the most sought after models as of late.

I would "letter it" and confirm it was an FBI issued weapon. It would be worth the fee if you ever parted with it.

Congrats!

Please let us know if the revolver letters to the FBI. My understanding is that the FBI's Model 13s were destroyed. Agents were not allowed to purchase their revolvers when they transitioned to pistols.

Great deal at that price. It would take at least a hundred more to pry mine away from me.

It would probably take even more than that to make me let go of mine.

I would have snapped it up. There was a 13-3 3" on GB this week that was pretty ratty and it went for $350.... You done good.

How did my old post pop up again? Glad to see new replies. How much does a letter cost nowadays? This gun (S&W 13 3") rides in a lefthand $5.00 pancake type snap holster I found at the fleamarket, made for a 2 1/2" 19. Fits perfect. Plus a T-grip a guy gave me. Just a great package all around.

The holster mentioned above is S&W marked. That's why I brought it up here. Great quality and it rides really flat. It's black BTW.

Isn't the dickering on price supposed to work the other way?

bountyhunter, yeah, usually, huh? A guy I work with said he was selling a Savage 99 .300. He new nothing about them but knew it was worth more than the $400 the gun shop offered. When I saw it I knew it would never be mine. He asked me a value and I said "At least $800." He was a little surprised then offered it to me for , get this. $400. It's a mint condition (but beautifully refinished) Model EG made in 1937. Weird how things work.400 has been a good number for me.
