CA - Roommate is a felon question

pics

I agree with a previous poster; we need to see pics of the gun at least if not both gal and gun. You know the forum tradition: No pics it didn't happen.

The gun is the girlfriend's problem, not the guy's. She needs to address the issue with her attorney and/or leave. The guy might want to consider a new girl friend.

I think if you check Federal law you'll find that a felon can not reside where there are firearms. A friend had that problem a few years ago. Felon living in the house ... NO GUNS. State law never enters the picture so to speak.

Not to totally disagree with you, but I have experience with this very situation...IN SOUTH CAROLINA,CHARLOTTE BATFE REGIONAL OFFICE..
A friends wife was under inditement (sp?) for something that would preclude her possession of firearms... This friend had several safes full of both handguns and longguns.. He called and ask me for advice...I in turned called Charlotte, NC, BATFE regional office and was told by the Head agent in charge that he needed to restrict her access to the firearms by either changing the locks and restricting her access to the keys,or change the combinations on the safes and keep them from her knowledge..
I, passed this info along and have heard nothing adverse yet.. Still no trial....Your regional BATFE office's opinion may vary...

The link Buttercup posted seems to suggest that your friend isn't really violating any laws. While I won't say that the judge in her case was trying to legislate from the bench, the judge's instructions were likely directed to her and possibly reinforced to your friend by HER lawyer. Don't know the circumstances of why she lied to police leading to her predicament, but there are other issues for him to consider far and beyond her being able to live with him and his guns.
