I was shopping for a 9mm Shield and was surprised how much they vary in price between Cabelas and Bass Pro considering they merged. At Cabelas a 9mm PC Shield w/tritium ns was on sale for $399.88 and the same gun with FO sights was $499.00. The PC 9 at Bass Pro was $100 more than Cabelas. Bass Pro and Cabelas had standard feature Shield 9mm/40 for $269 on sale. It pays to shop around.

if there are any bigger independent retailers left in your area try them as well.
there have been so many deals on shields that its very possible that they are just as cheap or moreso at an independent store who is able to be more flexible and jump on those deals as they come up.

Too late. I jumped on the PC 9 night sight to replace the one I sold last year. I missed that little gun. It was nothing fancy or pretty but so easy to carry and cheap to shoot.:)

When we bought our new shields we didn’t go to Cabella’s or any other big retailer. We went to a privately owned local store. Might have paid a little more, but those folks feed their family from that shop. Plus the owner is one great gunsmith.

I looked at LGSs in my area first because I'd rather do business with the little guy. I know what you're talking about as our family just sold our hardware store after 64 yrs in business. Going down there now to help clearing it out. Unfortunate that it's hard to impossible to compete. It's the same with grocery, drug and about every privately owned store you could mention.

I bought my wife's 380 EZ for $329 at Bass Pro as a price match to Cabella's (several months ago).

I have 4 LGS in my town and would rather do business with any one of them...even tho they may charge a little more. I get good advice from them and they know what they're selling. Plus free coffee! I have Cabella's and Bass Pro nearby...but they're always so dam busy. But I admit i do use the internet when buying parts.

I always buy on line and ship to a local pawn shop that does free transfers.

I like to support the "little guy" LGS as much as I can too. Its nice to have them around. The way I look at it is its i'm paying for a few more bucks for their knowledge and experience when I have a question. My experience with the big stores is that the clerk at the counter is just some guy off the street that was lucky enough to get a job there and don't know much about firearms.
