I picked up a Caldwells Brass Catcher with velcro attachment for both my M&P 15 and my M&P 1522. I do reload, but the catcher is more for range friendliness as well.

The problem I've had, like many others, was that the catcher failed to withstand more than 2-3 rounds fired in succession. If I held onto the velcro collar, it helped, but then I had to pay attention to both the target and the catcher. Further, once the bag became loaded with brass, it became increasingly difficult to keep aligned with the ejection port.

I have space on my rail for a hook of some kind that could hook onto the wire of the catcher. I've searched and found a few interesting possibilities. Right now, I've scavenged a portion of a picatinny rail catch and along with a washer and bolt, seems like it might hold. I haven't tried it out yet, but I will at the next range session.

However, I'm looking for less jury-rigged alternatives.

Here are some references to things that might work:
1) I like the low profile and small size. I could easily see cutting off the rail section, or putting an index clip there to help hold the bag

2) Similar; here, it looks like the extra notches below the rail dovetail could capture the wire from the bag and press it against the lower

3) Using a low-profile side sling mount. Not too many advantages over (1) or (2)

4) Using LaRue index clips, specifically designed for lower tapeswitch mounts. Would seem a waste to buy all of the other index clips when not required.

5) Find a replacement caldwall brass catcher spare mount. Caldwell doesn't have them. Of course, I'd still need to jury rig a shoulder to fit into the sleeve, but that seems easy enough.

Beyond that, does anyone have any recommendations on how I might be able to provide additional support for the brass catcher bag? None of the above had 'QD' levers, which would be a bonus (easier removal for range clear).

Thanks for any inputs or advice!

I have the Caldwell brass catcher and have fired up to 10 rounds with no problems. It's easy enough to empty with the zippered bottom so I don't have a problem. I'm not really into mag dumps with my Sport so for the type of shooting I do, I can empty it after 10 rounds or so. And since I reload, this is much better than looking for cases in the snow!
