California vs. Texas

California:
The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.

#1. Governor starts to intervene, reflects upon the movie "Bambi" and then realizes he should stop; the coyote is only doing what is natural.

#2. He calls animal control. Animal control captures coyote and spends $200 testing it for diseases and $500 upon relocating it.

#3. He calls veterinarian. Vet collects dead dog and spends $200 testing it for diseases.

#4. Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting bite wound bandaged.

#5. Running trail gets shut down for 6 months while wildlife services conduct a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is clear of dangerous animals.

#6. Governor spends $50,000 of state funds implementing a "coyote awareness" program for residents of the area.

#7. State legislature spends $2 million investigating how to better handle rabies and how to possibly eradicate the disease.

#8. Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack and for letting the Governor intervene.

#9. Cost: $75,000 to train new security agent.

#10. PETA protests the coyote relocation and files suit against the state.

Texas:
The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.

#1. Governor shoots coyote and keeps jogging. Governor has spent $0.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge. Buzzards eat dead coyote.

Actually I think it was reported that Gov. Perry used a 380 ACP.

But that does not mean the news got it right.

so true..

And I will bet that the contract for all that work went to a firm in AZ..

I'll bet it went to some politician's kin folk!

It's not just Cal, btw.
[Disclaimer: I'm gonna make up some numbers here, feel free to do the research and post the right amounts :) ]

When the space program first started it was quickly noted that ball point pens wouldn't work in low to no gravity situations.
The USA spent about A Zillion Dollars (see disclaimer) and came up with a pen that would write anywhere.
The USSR sent their guys up with pencils.

Seinfeld episode. ;)

In a local gun shop today I saw a lady talking to a sales guy and looking at some items including a small 380 in an aluminum case.
The case had a big sign on it which said "Governor Perry Survival Kit".
I didn't go up and see what was included in the kit as I didn't want to interrupt. Just thought it was kinda funny and a cool sales idea.

This merely establishes that both governors were inadequately armed...

The big city media in Texas has taken our Governor to task for: a. shooting an innocent and cute coyote; b. carrying a firearm while jogging; c. putting other joggers and anyone within a mile of the scene in danger by discharging a firearm; d. being a gun toting conservative.

Just a thought, would have the AZ Gov had the coyote stopped at the border or at least detained it and handed it over to Sheriff Joe? :D
