How are they going to stop a person buying ammo in Reno and then driving down 395 to Carson City and taking 50 to Lake Tahoe? Are they going to install those stupid agriculture entry points on every road that enters California? Most of the time, those agriculture entry points are not even occupied.
Do those dopes in Sacramento realize what they have created? A black market for ammo. And if your are say at a range in CA and are approached by an LEO and he asks to see your ammo and wonders where and when you got it. All you have to say is you purchased it before 2018. What is he going to do, run a check on the lot #? And what if you buy your ammo and just remove it from the box and throw it in a ammo box just loose?
They tried this in NYS and they wanted to use the Fed. background check system, and the feds said no. The provision was removed from the law.
Ca will have to implement their own background check system. Wonder what that will cost to create and maintain? The state is already broke.
But have no fear. If you are an illegal and kill someone, that is just fine and dandy and do it with a stolen LEO's firearm!

To answer the question of "when will it end?", the answer is never. Someone on another thread posted a picture from England where the local police have placed a "knife turn in" kiosk, with a sign stating that "only cowards carry (knives)". So in a country where they have already taken away everyone's (legal, at least) guns, now they are starting on pocket knives. And not just that, but denigrating anyone who might want to protect themselves.

This is the one from the Essex Police, there are others:

By the way, I got caught at Heathrow (London Airport) with a tiny lock back on my keychain... They thought I was a terrorist. (Pre 9/11). I've been through there many times, both pre and post 9/11... But that time was something else.

Best Regards, Les

Les, they have been restricting the carriage of knives for years and have very strict rules regarding blade length and means of opening (for folders).

(I've been a super mod on a very large and popular online knife enthusiast site for nigh on 20 years.)

As to California...I don't have the words. It's a travesty and trust me when I say that other states will be watching with great interest to see what they might be able to pull off themselves.

UNREAL is all I have to say.
I guess the sheeple feel better in England now.
What will they ban next? Rental trucks? Curbs less than 4 feet in height?
And cali is right behind them.

If a state tries to prohibit mail order of products shipped from another state, doesn't that have a problem regarding the Constitution's interstate commerce clause? Only Congress can regulate interstate commerce.

Lots of gun owners in California.... If I lived in California I'd be clicking the buy button at online ammo sellers to stock up before Jan 1.

It will be interesting to see how online ammo inventories of Federal hold up with their generous rebates-- 5 cents per round on 5.56/.223 and 25% on handgun ammo. Palmetto has been selling cases of Fed 5.56 $299 delivered. $50 rebate puts it at $249 delivered. Haven't seen those prices in quite a few years. Rebate over Dec 31.

No. California already has a restricted gun list, meaning that several firearms, including most presently residing in my safe here in flyover country, are unable to be shipped to or sold in California. I can bring up several examples of other things not able to be shipped to or sold in California, but the easiest one I can think of is cars without various emissions features . . .

Legal ammo sold in California will have to have a DPRC headstamp and the cartridges must be on the state's approved ammo list.

All approved ammo will have the governors picture on the box.

Next up will be bullets, powder and primers.

As best I can get from the printed law is that bullets and cases are considered ammo and not the primers and powder yet. Those of us who reload had hoped that we might not have any problems getting supplies in or from out of state.

I was notified by one of my purchase points that they would no longer deliver any ammo, casings or bullets. As for purchasing out of state and transporting over the state line.....who knows yet but I suspect out of state business may want to check ID's. Do not know how feasible that is but I'm pretty sure if you get caught bringing them overt the state line will result in some type of disciplinary action.

As far as the people of this state, it was voted in by the liberals not the conservatives (please don't lump all Californians in the same category). If you understand California geography vs population most races, ballot measures etc are decided by the LosAngles/So. Cal, SanFransico/Bay Area and Sacramento populations which are greater in number that the remaining state area. Also know that some of us live here out of necessity.

Most of you are right, I see the supply going down and the price going up. I have heard that we will have to have a background check and then pay a fee for a card that will allow us to make purchases from licensed dealers.

Well I reckon I won't be buying any online ammunition until after the California panic buying ends, as that should cause prices to rise.

Just hope when you go online to purchase there is not a disclaimer saying CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK - ALL INVENTORY SLATED FOR CALIFORNIA UNTIL FEBRUARY 15TH, 2018.:D:D

All I hope is that NC doesn't follow some of these other states down the rabbit hole. One great thing about living here in western NC has been the relative freedom we enjoy when it comes to firearms related purchases and carry.

With shifting populations and demographics one wonders how long we will continue to enjoy these rights.
