California SB2

Snow Bird time is creeping up on us. Starting to see out of state plates already. I remember my Great-Grandmother complaining about them.

Cannot resist reminding the state of Florida about the economic impact of tourism. It is only a matter of time until the oppressive heat in Florida and the Southwest force residents to come to the north country in the summer!

In 2002, Florida Center for Instructional Technology stated:
Today, tourism is the most important factor driving Florida's economy. About forty million people visit Florida yearly. The money visitors spend in Florida supports many businesses. Amounting to over $40 billion dollars each year, tourism is the state's greatest source of income.

Twenty years later, Tourism is still the biggest single source of revenue in Florida:
The GDP generated by Florida's Travel & Tourism accounted for over 8% of Gross State Product in 2021. Tourism contributed $101.9 billion to Florida Gross State Product (GSP) in 2020.

Interesting that Florida's annual budget is almost totally paid for by tourism dollars:
According to Florida Urban Institute, the state enacted its FY 2023 budget in June 2021. The enacted budget included $109.9 billion in total spending and $41.8 billion in general fund spending.

Your facts are nice and a good way to show how tourism brings in a dollar or two. The nice thing about tourists is the fact they go back home after spending their money.

My family was here a couple of years before 1820. Wish I could have seen it then. Now I sound like my Parents. Grandparents and Great Grandparents. "You should have been here when I was a kid". When I left to join the Corps there were 35,000 people living in 617 square miles. As of 2021 there were 163,662. Sometimes I wonder why I came back (if my Mother had not still been alive, I probably would not have come back.). The influx of folks from other places has wreaked havoc with the environment. My Uncle was fighting this back in the 1960's to no avail. Soon Florida will be like Calif. as population goes. All along the coast's and none much farther than 20 miles inland. I was in Calif in 1971 and it was nice, room to move around. Was back in 1986-89 and it was wall to wall people and houses in the same area.

I know this is all in the name of progress, but progress sucks! If you want Disney in your state come and get it and the others. Orlando was a real nice town in the 1960's prior to Disney. Please take the others (Universal, Sea World, etc).

The whining in this thread is unbelievable. People will move into and out of states as they prefer for a variety of reasons, and will have an impact on the areas they move into and out of whether current residents like it or not. All of which has nothing to do with the second amendment

i fail to see what any of this whining about peoples freedom to move where they want within the united states has to do with the second amendment, which should be applied equally throughout the 50 states. moving to and fro has nothing to do with it.

Thank You for the compliment!

The "whining" you are referring to is not so much about people moving to different areas. It is a discussion about them trying to change the area they have moved to into the area they came from.

Kind of a Left Handed Compliment, but I guess you are welcome.

I understand that but there really is nothing that you or anyone can do about it, which is my point.
