Call Sight?

Howdy

I have a couple of K-22s that have the Call front sight. I would like to know more about the Call front sight. SCSW only says "A Call front sight consists of a flat gold or ivory bead on a post. From S&W employee Charles Call"

There is an accompanying photo showing a flat gold bead let into the rear face of the front sight.

The beads on the sights of my K-22s are a silver colored bead. I have attached two photos.

Who was Charles Call? What different models carried the Call Sight? What were the metals used?

Charlie Call was an employee of S&W that developed the Gold Bead front sight. The silver bead front sight was the "Call Brilliant", it became very popular. I'm sure a more knowledgeable historian will be along and embellish the information better.

On these pages, someone once published a good illustration showing all the different types of target front sights used and a discussion of each (Patridge, Call, Peard, etc.). I don't know how I could find it. Maybe someone else reading this has it.
