This pre war Kit Gun went from my son's safe to David Wilson's safe:

.22/32 HFT. The barrel had been shortened to 3 3/8", due to a bulged barrel.

Here are a few more: The first picture is a pair of 1903 targets. The top gun was shipped to Bremen Germany in 1908. The bottom gun was shipped to Marcus Hartley in New York in 1906. It wears factory pearl grips and a checkered trigger. The next picture is a .32 Regulation Police Target that was shipped in 1921. The last picture is a .22/32 HFT shipped in 1927 with a factory call gold bead front sight.

This is an early 1920s K frame target that I found at a gun show for less than $200 last year. No finish. but she shoots better than I can!

Something isn't jiving here. My understanding is that the K frames didn't come out until the 30's and basically were the death knell of the smaller I frame .22/32 HFT's. That and the introduction of the "kit" gun version with the 4" barrel.

I always found it funny that the Bekeart model was the supposed brainchild of Phil Bekeart who thought that a larger framed .22 revolver would be a huge success. Taking the smaller M frame Ladysmith .22 caliber revolver and producing a man sized version using the larger I frame then used for .32 caliber guns. The Ladysmith supposedly so named as ladies could fit the small revolver into their purse. Part of the death of the .22/32 HFT was as stated above, when the 4" kit guns came out. Made smaller to fit into a man's fishing or hunting "kit".

Apparently, the "ladies" always do get the last word in and as the saying goes, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

Delta-419's K target is a .38 Spl.

I also wonder how many Kit Guns found their way into purses?

Let's see how my iPad-foo is working. I took a picture of my early '20s vintage HFT with replaced barrel and modified ejector rod (thanks, Hondo44) and my Regulation Police Target in 32 S&W Long. The HFT is pretty trail worn, but other than the ill effects from some poor storage in a couple of spots, the RP-T is in excellent condition.

Oddly enough, that one and one other are both sort of being offered for sale simultaneously here in Central VA. PM me if interested.
