A search and rescue call in Kelowna's Boulderfields area turned out to be a lone camper singing to himself in the woods. His music of choice? Canadian rock group Nickelback.

Two hikers had contacted 911 after hearing what sounded like “repeated cries.” The crew immediately switched from training to rescue mode, activating its drone team along with two RCMP officers.

The first members of the crew who arrived at the Boulderfields could hear “faint yelling – but couldn’t make out what was being said,”

...The camper was “singing his heart out to the trees, blissfully unaware that the acoustics of the Boulderfields had turned his tent-side concert into an accidental distress signal,” according to the team.

“He wasn’t in trouble,” said search manager Duane Tresnich. “Unless you count his singing.”

This is what happens when I sing ...

everyone thinks I'm in Pain and need Help !

Truth is I just can't sing !

My wife say's I can't carry a note even if it were in a bucket with a handle !
Some of us just have no singing talent !

Well, if you're a "certified Cajun" and own S&W's, you probably have some other laudable attributes.
At least you're not like Florence Foster Jenkins "renowned for her lack of musical skill and singing ability", but THOUGHT she could sing.

I have mixed feelings about this. I live in a forest next to a popular hiking trail. To me personally, I feel it is rude to scream, holler, sing or caterwaul in a forest. For me it is unnatural. I so enjoy the quiet of the forest. For the caterwaulers and anyone else around it scares off any animal and disturbs the balance. One the other hand the forest should be a place you can enjoy yourself and if singing like a cat with his toe caught in a trap is your thing.......

Me referring to the noise my cousin makes:

“How can she be so out of tune with only one mouth?”

When I told my dad I was joining a band in my teens his response was “I’ll get you a bucket so you can carry a tune” 🤣. We actually went on to be the house band at a college bar, mostly did Eagle covers.

I love to sing. Other people aren't fond of it, but I love it. I love to sing while working. Seems to help the task go faster. I have had coworkers ask me to sing tenor. Ten or twelve miles away. One particularly well educated individual referred to it as sonic ipecac. I never liked him. But I did have one coworker tell me when I left the job that he would miss my singing. Made me feel good. I, of course, gave him the number of a good psychotherapist. I do hope he's doing better.
