I just bought a new Shield in 9mm and really enjoy it so far. However, I was thinking of doing a cerakote job on the slide, but I hate to do this to a brand new gun. And I also read that covering up the warning on the slide voids the warranty.

Is it possible to buy a slide only that I could use to modify like I want while keeping the original slide in stock condition?

When I emailed S&W about parts they said you can call them and order parts, I'm sure they will sell you a slide

I tell you what, after working this gun all afternoon and evening my first purchase will be a trigger upgrade. My trigger is horrendous. After dry firing at least 500 times, I put my trigger gauge on to see what it was pulling. Lowest reading I got was 7.5lbs and the highest was close to 7.75lbs. I sure hope this trigger improves. I ditched a Sigma mostly because of the terrible trigger. This is my second S&W auto, and if it can't be improved I might give up totally.

That slide may be hard to get now days. After S&W put a halt on selling the barrels separate. It wouldnt surprise me if they also stop selling the slide to the public.

Unless the slide itself failed (pretty unlikely), I can't imagine S&W denying a warranty claim based solely on refinishing the slide.

I asked S&W about modifications and the warranty, I was told that as long as the modification is not the problem they will honor the warranty

Even if I Cerakote over the warning label on the slide?

The label is to cover liability for them, don't see why they would void your warranty for something that has nothing to do with the guns actual function.

I'm having my slide KG Gunkoted gray
