Can one freeze Peeps???

My big question would be WHY?
I'm always surprised to hear that people older than 5 will actually eat puffed balls of sugar (marshmallows) - especially when they are covered in yellow granulated sugar.

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just eat sugar by the spoonful directly out of the sugar bowl? :D

For what it is worth, here is what Bing has to say about freezing marshmallows...
Marshmallows will not freeze in your standard home freezer. The sugar and air prevents the moisture from freezing at 32 degrees. You can try liquid nitrogen.

So, you can't freeze them, but if you put them in a ziplock bag to keep them dry, you can probably keep them "fresh" in your freezer for a lifetime..

When I was a kid I remember my great grandmother doing exactly that. She'd use a big tablespoon, and gobble it right up. Made me nauseous to watch. Must not have hurt her, though, she was healthy and active until she fell and broke a hip while mowing her yard with a manual reel mower at age 87.

My late MIL was a Peep freak. The more stale they were, the better. She would buy them en masse and vacuum pack them.

The woman was serious 'bout her Peeps.

Like BC, a bag of sugar and a rolled up $20 would be more expeditious.

"OK, what's a peep ? "
In my part of the world when I was growing up, "peeps" and "chicks" were synonymous. Peep candies look like miniature chicks.

My father had an addiction for Circus Peanuts, somewhat similar to peeps. Sort of an orange flavored and colored concoction with a marshmallow-like consistency shaped like large peanuts.

Great, create another shortage due to hoarding. What's next, pickled eggs? Joe

Intelligent hosts on ESPN... 'tho they were in short supply before the latest round of cuts.

For the record, I like my Peeps grilled with a jalapeño slice. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I'm a Reese Peanut Butter Cup addict.

During the few cold spells in Central Texas I have them in the pantry but the rest of the year they're in the freezer.

They go great with Guinness and other black beers.

Yes, Peeps will freeze.

When all else fails, Google it.

You can keep them in the freezer, but they won't freeze. See my post above and if you don't believe it, feel free to try it for yourself.

Peeps and circus peanuts are NOTHING alike. Circus peanuts are whipped, but they are not spongy flavorless balls of sugar like marshmallows. I can actually eat up to about a dozen circus peanuts. I don't think I could choke down even one peep...
