Can our government agencies get anything right ? Just got a "DENIED" backround check

I should have a federal carry permit and should be able to carry my licensed pistol anywhere I want, in any state !!!
The permit is called the Constitution, it would be nice if they would let us use it. And NONE of my pistols are "licensed".

Also if you are arrested but the DA for whatever reason decides not to prosecute, it is ALWAYS a good reason to get the ARREST expunged as it shows up and to a lot of uninformed, an arrest is as bad as a conviction.

Good luck with that. Every job that I have had since 1982 (3) does the background check. Comes back squeaky clean, except for an arrest in 1982. Once the interviewer had the result "dismissed" on their desk as we spoke. Every time I have to write a "letter of explanation" in which I explain "case dismissed." I have tried to have it expunged, more than once. Except the county courthouse doesn't have any records which they tell me are necessary to expunge. Government is great, wish we had more of it. Joe

I used to work for the government, so don't get me started. Undoubtedly the best and close to the worst as well from different angles.

The only problem I ever had was when I was hired as surveillance at one of the Native American casinos in Kansas. While going through the background check, the interviewer noted that I had received a "General under Honorable" discharge from active service back in 1982. Having an Honorable one before that one and two more Honorable ones after, I never bothered jumping through the hoops to get that one upgraded. The interviewer was ex-CID... he asked why I didn't get an Honorable one that time. I replied that the reasons couldn't be addressed unless I was being arrested and charged with either murder or crimes against the country. He didn't like that and promptly denied my gaming permit. Appeal was useless as it required the tribe paying an exorbitant amount for a higher-up review and employees at that time were a dime a dozen with the good wages they were paying. Didn't affect me much, I went on to get a good paying Federal job, a concealed carry permit and now a C&R FFL...lol

Amazing how many who have been government service or some form of law enforcement do not realise that there are limits to their need to know.

It wasn't all that big of a deal, I had some personal problems that ended up with me on a three day bender, getting an Article 15 for the AWOL and me and the CO finally agreeing that me and the Army had different needs at the time... just didn't see where it was any of his business and told him so, lol... kinda tweaked his shorts into a knot or two I guess.

Many years ago, about 1967, I was picked up by the police for something another person had done. I was fingerprinted, photographed and turned loose. Never was charged with anything. Now, every time my permit comes up for renewal, some guy at the State Police calls me saying I did not list that arrest and did not provide court records of the outcome.

There are no court records since no formal charges were filed. Even the police department does not have a record of it. I gave the State a copy of a letter from the court saying they never had me appear for any charges.

Still every few years, this comes back to haunt me and it was not my doings or fault but it is now a problem for the State Police.
