Can Someone Explain to Me The Appeal of the .45 Colt

Thanks Alpo. Tried that but it wouldn't work for me for some reason. Don't have the "paste" option available when I right click. Thats the way I always did it before, just doesn't work now. Got it figured out now..thanks guys.

I have the "N" frame revolvers in 8 5/8 barreled versions for 41M, 44M and 45 Colt, plus a 625 in 45 ACP and then two Mk II Hand ejectors, one in 0.455 and one that has been reamed and cut to 45 Colt. I should add also a 6.5 inch 41M to add to the collection, Since I reload for all, I can have a lot of fun with all of them, even using 45 AR for the 625 or the Mk II HE in 0.45 or for a number of cut Webley and Enfield Mk Vis (though I keep those loads down to 630 fps or so, and yes, Enfiled did make the MkVI in 0.455 after WWI). I should add that I was able to pick up a fair number of Starline Cases (special run a few years ago) of 0.41 Special head stamp, so I reload those as well for a "none existent calibre". As others have said, if you reload, you can do anything with those 40+ cartridges. Dave_n

I can understand the personal preference for liking the round. I suppose that is part of what I like about the .45 ACP. If your personal preference is for a .45 caliber with more power and more weight than the .45 ACP affords, then that is all the justification you or anyone needs for using it.

In my case I actually find the .45 ACP to be near the top end of my enjoyment shooting power range. In fact I can see the time not to many years from now I will be reloading to get less power in my .45ACP, not more. Again that is personal preference on my part and liking the diameter and heft of the .45 bullet.
I believe that answered your own question, you don't get it because you don't like the recoil of anything more stout than 45acp. But, just because you don't like a particular ctg doesn't make you even close to correct in saying that a 45acp even +p can do what a heavy 45colt load can, because that is just false! 45 colt is a great round as is the 45acp(my preferred ccw round). The 45colt just happens to be more of a reloaders ctg.

I have not read all of the above but I suspect someone has given the obvious answer, "just 'cuz". Now if one wants real horsepower, the 45 Colt will absoluteloy stomp the 44 Mag in a proper revolver.
