Can someone help me date a 1917

just picked up a 1917 serial # 25180 would like to know when it was made and shipped if possible, thanks

SCSW 5th Edition is not very specific on 1917 numbers.
Says 1 to 209791 1917-1946. My guess is your gun would fall into the WWI range. 1917 or 1918. Hopefully the experts will be along to get it closer.

That serial number would put the revolver at a 1918 ship date. I believe all these military 1917s went to Remington for shipment to the troops.

For what it's worth, serial numbers 24380 & 27829 both shipped in February of 1918.

Made February 1918 but I don't have Shipping Records.

February 1918 is the date. Where it shipped? A best guess would be the Springfield Armory. It was not that far away and the Army wanted them fast.

Remington was the shipping/buying agent for the British Army. They got the 455 revolvers, Triple Locks and 2nd Models.
