Back in 1967, I was a young paratrooper headed to Vietnam. I obtained a new SW revolver. I shot it in Kansas, carried it in Vietnam until the shoulder holster rubbed a raw spot on my chest, stored it, brought it home, and later traded it for some camping gear--yes, everyone would agree it was a bad trade! For years I have been trying to recall what model it was, and seek a replacement--I "think" it had a round front sight, it had a 4 inch barrel, wood grips, and the factory information was stamped on the frame. It also had the blue box and brown paper wrapping. I don't recall what it cost, or where I bought it? Any ideas what model it may have been. I always think of it as a "military police" model, so that may have been on the box? Thanks for any help.

Agreed, most likely a Military & Police Model 10.

The "round front sight" sounds like you got old stock, they had changed to a ramped front blade well before 1967.

Police tradeins come up at reasonable prices pretty regularly.

Maybe a 10-5. That's what we all bought back then. Don't know about the round front sight. . .that sort of ended in the early 1950's.
