Why is there an auction tag on it?
Good Question - is this photo of actual pistol?
PCS08xx would be Shorty40 (1st generation circa 1992-95 as opposed to later Shorty40 Mk2 SPCxxxx, Mk3 KPCxxxx, Mk3S PCWxxxx, and 2000 DSFxxxx variants).
They are very nice Performance Center variants of the 4006 but in a more compact form (alloy frame vs stainless, shorter frame, 3.5 in barrel vs 4 in, shorter grip, shorter (9rd vs 11rd) mag, with a unique barrel and slide featuring a brass barrel guide bushing.
The Shorty40 PCSxxxx were produced in 3 groups of roughly 500 units each (highest observed PCS1575). The other variants were produced in much smaller quantities ~220 of the Mk2 and best guess ~650 Mk3, ~612 Mk3S, even less of the Shoty40-2000.
You will see Shorty 40 variants typically listed in excess of $2000 but the same pistols have been listed for over a year with no sales. There have been others listed in the 1200-1600 range which have also not sold. The sweet spot seems to be $800-1200 depending on model variant, condition, case, mags, etc.
In pricing, the PCS variant probably rates lower than the other variants. The $800-1200 range as previously suggested sounds about right. I bought mine for $800 with 2 original 9rd Performance Center mags but no case.
As to your photo, again I am concerned about auction tag - but other than that it appears to have an incorrect 4006 11rd mag sticking out and a single probably correct 9rd with yellow follower (should have Performance Center mkg if correct). Correct PC 9rd mags are hard to find and can be expensive ($100).
So in my mind its a $750-800 pistol assuming its in good condition with a single correct mag and without correct case or other documentation. As to auction prices, add sales tax and if it has to ship add at least $50 and your receiving FFL fee.
As with all alloy framed 3rd generation pistols, in my experience it is a good idea to field strip and examine the inside of the frame, particularly in the area of the ramps where the barrel slides down on recoil. These are subject to significant damage if fired with hot loads and/or weak recoil springs.
