Not to start a political thread by any means, but in terms of ordnance, it was pointed out by another collector in a collector group online that the exhaustive and absurd list put forth for the Canadian ban today contains such everyday items as: functional TOW missiles, Greek C6 60mm mortars, M68 Parsarskott recoilless rifles, Manville gas guns, Starstreak missiles, and my favorite, the ZT3 Ingwe, a South African mobile laser-guided anti tank missile. Ok now, hand them over nice and easy…

I have a partial list, and it is absolutely ridiculous what is on it.

Exactly what I was thinking. And you know the left has one waiting here, as well... Like this Corona virus situation, politicians know that the best time to grab more power is when there is just the right mix of fear and high emotions.

Looking at the list, I’m just surprised that up to now Canadians WERE actually allowed to own these types of weapons.

I would have expected that, outside the US and Switzerland, most of the guns on the list were banned already.

Canada is one of the top countries in terms of rate of private gun ownership, but knowing that handguns were strictly regulated, I had always been under the impression that it was hunting rifles and shotguns only; never occurred to me there’d be a way anybody in a country still ruled by the Queen could own any type of AR-15 style gun ;)
 
I hope that our northern neighbors will be adequately defended by whatever is left. It still evades me that someone thinks that a deranged person contemplating multiple murders will be deterred by a gun charge. It cannot seriously be a belief that this will keep guns out of their hands. Too late for that, every fence, gang and motorcycle gang has more guns than A Marine division all for sale. Disarm the victims, make the soccer moms happy?

I thought this new law had bore size as part of the bad things. I heard worries that they were going to outlaw 12 gauge shotguns because they were 0.73 inches.


Seems like most muskets would be too large a caliber.

It amazes and amuses me that the gun control crowd seriously believes their various bans and restrictions will prevent crime. It apparently doesn't occur to them that if criminals cannot get guns, they will substitute another tool...
