:cool:oh man, i been waiting about a year for this 44 and it finally arrived at lgs this morning.
i popped in to lgs today to touch base with owner who is also a client, i do renovations etc. as i was outlining a construction procedure he wordlessly pulled the case out from behind the counter ,set it in front of me and opened the lid...i was speechless, whoever said the new smiths arent good, never looked at this one . nice finish ,very tight, excellent trigger in sa or da AND THE BARREL IS ON STRAIGHT !its a special canadian sized 4.2" 629 . heavy barrel, fluted cylinder, partial underlug.
1150 after taxes.
his renovation might take a little longer now...haha

I cant load pics because i cant make photobucket work with my computer ..stupid flashplayer so im going to try to put in my icon, better than nothing i guess

Yup, I have one of those coming also. Pretty well sold out at Canadian dealers .. they went fast.

Now for a good aftermarket grip/stock.

hey neighbor! i got a mod 19 at del's shop a few months ago ,small world.
i shot one of the new 44s yesterday but not mine ,its just what weve been waiting for.

Nice revolver!

Don't mean to hijack, but what are the Canadian laws in handguns? I thought they were verboten!

Not verboten. Just need appropriate training, licences and associated police screening.

Legal carrying of handguns requires another level of permissions/authorizations which are almost impossible to obtain unless you are on-duty LE or Brinks, etc.

4" barrels and shorter are prohibited so are .32 and .25 cals .of any barrel size.
this law effectively outlawed over 50% of all handguns registered in canada at that time. those owners were grandfathered but no new prohibited permits would be granted
this is why we want 4.2" barrels on our revolvers , i also have an SP101 with 4.2" and a buddy has a 4.2" 686.
there is hope ! we successfully abolished our long gun registry in canada .lets keep fighting

Dels is probably the best gun shop in Canada. Been there many times, mostly for ammo. Only 30 minutes drive North of my place. I will have to get there again soon for the 44 ammo.

Hope to have my new 629 in hand by the end of the week. Slow BC approvals and shipping.

Boy, you guys up in the interior sure go for your hand cannons, don't you? LOL Both of my Smiths are 22's, but I'd never part with em.

I just ordered one of these today from a shop in Ontario.
Does this Del's place have a website, and do they ship out east? Thanks.

Nope, Del's is very low tech on the computer side. Give them an old-fashioned telephone call. They do ship within Canada.
and he does sell thru Canadian Gunnnutz website.

Mine arrived just the other day .. looks just like this one.

I am not too pleased with the tarnished-look finish on the hammer and trigger. Is that normal for a this model ?

yes, its normal for the ones i have seen. not as nice as the old ones but still pretty in their own right.
mine is just as accurate as my 6".
i felt pretty cool shooting DA one handed ,while other people on the firing line stopped and stared and then came over to see what i was shooting.
del's is a good shop but have you been to the powder keg in kamloops?

most of my guns are 38/357 but i do enjoy my 44s and yes theres a couple 22 smiths in the safe as well.a 17-5 and a 22A-1
the island is my favorite place to visit, both sets of grandparents came from there

Decided that the fit and finish of my new 629 4.2 inch did not meet my expectations. It is gone today. But, I still have my Model 29 Performance Center ! It's a 29-8 and I also have the original wood stocks.
