My old Subaru Outback wagon was giving me hints that she wasn't long for this world, so I shopped for a cheap, economical replacement. Found it in a Toyota Tacoma pickup, the plain version with roll up windows, bench vinyl seat, 4 cylinder engine, 5 speed manual transmission. The truck gets 27-29 MPG, better than the Subaru. Here's a pic with my canoe on top, canoe is a Wenonah "Prism" solo canoe. I'm leaving this morning for a three day trip:

The bed is 6 1/2' long, just long enough for a cot for sleeping.

On the bow of the canoe is a graphic I had made up years ago, the shield/crest of "Sir Robin The Brave". You remember him from the Monty Python movie "Quest For The Holy Grail", the Knight who bravely ran away. It reminds me while canoeing that if "Certain Death" lays ahead, turn left, turn right, go back, but whatever you do, don't "Press On, Regardless"....

The crest is a "Chicken Rampant", fearfully looking over his shoulder:

Used Toyotas are hard to find around here. I frequently see convoys of them one hooked to another with the beds full of stuff headed to Mexico. Looks like you put together a fun rig.

I've always figured, if Certain Death lies ahead, portage around it.

Enjoy your 3 day trip!!! Looks like that Toyota should dod the job.
