Not sure if anyone remembers my posts. I collect 4566 & 4566TSW LEO versions. Theres a seller online claiming to have 1 of 300 Melonite 4566 models. I know for a a fact its not the WVSP over run. From the info on the box label witch is:
Product Code-148670
Special # 8670
4.25 barrel
Has the M on the label
S/N RJF3111
Features, 8rd Mag, Fixed Night Sights
Traditional Double Action
It has a 03 I dont know what that stands for. I cant find the prefix in the book. But everything I read points to the NHSP. Any input would be awesome.

I cant help you as to pedigree, but I have seen 3 4566 Melonite (not 4566TSW) in RJF series 3167, 3184, and 3193. RJF3193 box end marked 8670 matching last 4 of Product Code = 148670 so its not a standard year+day date code. Box also marked 8SH-FNS-TDA-03. In this case 03 believed to be 3 magazines, TDA Traditional DA, 8SH obvious, FNS Fixed Night Sights

Wild guess 1999 vintage as I have a 5946 RJF305x not Melonite dated by SW as 8/1999 Box End 8775, Product Code = 148775, SKU = 0 22188 48775 x

And as posted elsewhere on this forum, Product Codes beginning 148xxx, 149xxx, 150xxx are believed to be Special Orders - typically Police Depts.

Observed Box End numbers near your 8xxx where xxx>365 - 8391 (148391 is a 4013TSW MSF839x); 8776 (148776 is a 3913TSW TDN556x), 8767 (148767 is a 4046 TDP097x 10/99 per SW), 8768 (148768 is a 5946 MJF220x) - all unknown PD or Specials?

P.S. the WVSP & WVPSC 4566 melonite circa 2011-2014 were 4566TSW Product Code 150933 with integral rail - not 4566. The RJF prefix was likely much earlier circa 1999.

I can’t add anything about the original posted question but I’m adding to my own knowledge so thanks.

I’ve asked the question about the 3, (or 4,) on the box end label. If it had been answered I don’t remember but I likely would have. One of the “3” marked examples I have definitely did originally come with three magazines.

The 149xxx example was from a limited non-railed TSW LE order, (according to John/18DAI,) and has a “4”. In theory it originally was ordered and shipped with 4 magazines?

I have RJF3156... did a factory letter on it some time ago, got this surprising tidbit of information.
