To crofoot629: please look at the thread started by NCTexan about the different types of posters. Several seem to apply to you but the one that stands out is "The Tough Guy". Glad you feel safe punk.

Hey there Tiger, I really feel like you missed me, like you’re not seeing me for who I am.
I’m no tough guy, I’m SMART!

Obama's decision was great. For an American pres. to authorize the shooting of terrorists holding an American hostage, if an oppurtunity arose, why, that's unpresidented!

I don't know if b-o really did much in any way to really help.Seems like he gave the Navy the go ahead to do what they thought would work.
If everything works out then b-o can claim he gave the go ahead!
If the s!@# hit the fan and everything went south then b-o could just point at the Navy and say THEY screwed up, then he would apologize to the pirates .

Why did o authorize force TWICE? Perhaps he didn't get peloci's permission the first time.

I am very pleased at the outcome.

Major Kudos to the snipers that made the three shots from one moving vessel to a smaller, moving vessel, out in the rolling ocean, probably with wind. Definatly unfavorable conditions. Hell of a group of marksmen

I hope the real details of the mission come out.

K.

I'll have to give him the benefit of the doubt. You can bet some of our lefty scumbags will find fault for the action. Murtha probably will find fault. I can't believe he was ever a Marine. But BO if you called the action good for you if not at least you didn't screw it up.

I'd like to see a film of the shooting through the sniperscopes leaked to AL JAZEERA for play on their arabic TV network. Also of the "negociator" pirate on the ship cr@pping his pants when the shots rang out.

I was thinking the very same thing. I hope they do get some kind of recognition. If they can't be recognized publically due to their covert assignment, I hope they are commended none the less. I know they don't do their job for recognition, but they deserve it.

Thumbs up to all participants, from the Prez on down to the SEAL snipers! This takes some of the edge off writing a check to the IRS today --- some of my money has just been very well spent!

YES, finally! As was said, we'll never know the details because if we know, the baddies will know. I suspect the "snipers" swam under the boat with rebreather scuba gear (no bubbles) then at the signal from an observer far away surfaced quietly and "sniped" the relaxed baddies with silenced automatics from a can't-miss distance of a few yards in the dark.

I suspect those tattered savages never even knew what hit them, and that they were hit when they thought things were finally going their way and they were going to get what they wanted, making them relaxed and in condition white.

We'll never know, and neither will the Somalis. The captain isn't talking.

Outstanding--although I suspect the POTUS was probably a dazed bystander for the most part. But I am proud of our military!

My WWII Navy brother and nephew are probably splicing the mainbrace tonight.

I think his teleprompter gave Obama the ok to "grant permission" for the shot. Or the Navy felt the captain's life was in danger, took action and then got permission from the teleprompter. However it went down, nice shooting.

I am delighted with the outcome.

I doubt that we will know exactly what happened for a long time.

obama deserves the benefit of the doubt on this one.

If only because obama refused to give credit to his predecessor when things worked out well. obama would always simply say "our troops performed superbly" and then inferred that President Bush is an idiot.

I like the outcome, wondering what caliber at what distance was used, but whatever, this operation was a success due to the excellent work of the US Navy.
