Carded

Funny, as a kid in TX I could buy beer at 16. In WA they scan my DL every time I buy alcohol without exception.
We all could buy beer at 16 in Texas, if you knew that one place, that obscure little store just out of the city limits.

When I was a lad my Dad was working on his car on the street. He sent up to the Krogers to buy him a pack of L&Ms. I was probably 6 or 7. Twenty seven cents a pack. No one looked twice.

That was the same where I grew up. It was a dry county, but if you were tall enough to put the money on the bootlegger's counter, you were old enough to buy beer. I was working on an alcoholic degree by the time I was 15. At least I got it out of my system and quit in middle age.
