Carry a J frame IWB?

Yep, flatlatch M36 in an IWB Don Hume just recently bought from a member here.

Try a cover-Up for the J frame from Tucker Gunleather,it's adjustable for height and cant.
I love mine.

+1 for "anchors" suggestion. Tucker provides excellent fit (boning), comfort, and adjustability. Not a huge wait time (but you have to have a little patience while waiting for a quality holster).

For IWB I carry a 442 in a Galco USA at 11:00 (I'm a lefty) and am looking seriously at the Null SMZ.

I use a Del Fatti ISP-DD.....it's horside so it's thin, but rigid....I wear it strong side IWB and with a 442, I hardly know it's there..for me, it's even more comfortable than pocket carry...I hate pocket carry...did I mention I can't stand pocket carry? :)

If I'm gonna go to the belt to support a gun, I'm gonna go bigger and heavier than the 642.
Mine fits nicely in a front pocket...being totally smooth it's a fast, sure draw, and I can drop it in on the way out the door when I don't have the desire to go with heavier weaponry. Not instantly but my pant do start to sag without one if I'm doing anything more than sitting around the house

If I'm going to the belt I'm carrying my Colt Defender tucked in tight between a broad leather belt and pants at 4 o'clock, and I can even tuck my Glock 29 in there.

If I'm gonna strap-up with any kind of rig, I won't be wasting the effort on a 5-banger .38 Special, no, I like to use it as "nature intended"....carried free and easy...casually, but "something" if the need arose.
You can carry that without a belt? I find that if I carry anything heavier than pocket change and a wallet I need a belt.

640 IWB Galco

I like to carry a 640-1 in a Galco IWB holster, tuck-n-go. With the J-hook, it is very easy and quick to wear and take off. Always at about 4-4:30 position.

Though at times I do carry a Sig p238 in my pocket. I use a Glaco pocket holster.

To me Galco is one of the top holster maker and these to holsters won't set you back like some of their other quality products. Carry concealed is about being comfortable. You don't want to sacrifice comfort for style, so both are no thrills holsters.

Pretty much every day, until a few months ago.

I started carrying a 3" Model 13 instead.

I'm a well above average shot with an J-frame, but even with good grips it's not exactly comfortable to shoot with .357 Magnum loads and it's not something you'd want to practice with for a couple hundred rounds even with +P loads.

The Model 13 isn't much larger, and is still readily concealable but it's more comfortable to practice with. It also recovers much faster under recoil, making accurate follow up shots much faster.

Wow -- a seven year zombie thread resurrection! Oldest I've seen. :D

And yeah, I carry Js IWB all the time and happily...

I tried IWB for a long time , but being 6' - 2" and 210 pounds , a lot of it around my waist, it was uncomfortable , even with larger pants and a good belt. There wasn't a good way to hide the grip either , dress shirt and dress jeans ....no coat is how we dress at work.
Pocket carry solved all the problems....if it's not on you when you need it , what good is it ?
So it's seven years old....we can still talk about it !

I never could figure out utility of a pocket holster. Might be a way to get us to buy more stuff that we'll never use. I just put my Model 60 in my pocket when necessary. It don't need no stinkin' pocket holster (one of my favorite movies). However, I usually carry on my strong side in a paddle holster, the only paddle holster I own.

While this thread is 7 years old, with the summer heat upon us I think it's a good topic to re-animate. I usually carry my model 36 in the warmer weather, I'm about 50/50 IWB and OWB. Except this year my 36 is vacationing in Massachusetts getting a make over and a tightening up. I am carrying my 2 1/2" 686. in a OWB as of late.

It seems the only way I can carry my 638 is a pocket holster. I wear a dress shirt tucked in. I know the ankle holster is an option, But not good for me in my situation. What else can I do?

I carry my 36 AIWB and my 442 in a pocket all the time.

Nope, after years of wearing a Sam Browne belt I have some Sciatica issues so either a pancake belt holster at 2:30-3:00 or pocket carry for me.

I carry a 640-3 on my strong side with a ClipDraw. Love it. No holster and I wear sweats most of the time and the ClipDraw works well with a belt too. No movement at all.

638 and 649 in a Sticky holster AIWB, 1 o'clock. Phone clipped @ 11 o'clock balances the slight the bump of the gun. Dress/polo/T shirts, always tucked in, it's deep concealment. Pockets full of other stuff.
